Are they not people?
Well done, that seems to have stumped him for the day.
Are they not people?
It's distancing language; it's meant to marginalise and 'other' the target group in question. Are they not people?
Pretty pathetic to try and find offence in every post just to suit your daily misplaced outrage.

...but you knew that.
'these people' 'them people'.A group of persons are known as people.
"You?"
I'm feeling marginalised here.
'these people' 'them people'.
It's ignorant at best and something nastier in all likelihood.
Imagine being on benefit and being 'advised' by that feller above. FFS.

Do Kendall and McGovern, the two in the Starmer Gang tasked with rolling this out, not understand that these people have been legitimately assessed by their own doctors and specialists to determine they are UNFIT for work? They come across sounding like all they need to do is give them a good shake and tell them to pull themselves together.
I dont think I'm either. Not my style.
It depends on what one calls a small farmer mate. A small industrial farm would be about 100 acres, quite a bit more if the land's unproductive (eg hill farm), so that would be a mil straight away without adding on a house, equipment and livestock and any diversified assets therein, as it's not only farms that are being hit with this, small/medium business relief has been adjusted too during the budget. I believe a smallholder would have to be over 13 acres to qualify, and would probably max out at circa 50 acres, so providing the home was modest with no diversification, should be okay, although, as with income tax bands, fiscal drag will apply, and probably catch up with them fairly soon. It's the smallholder's claims (where in the main a few small subsidies are claimed and the work is all subbed out) that allow the government to claim that most 'farms' will be unaffected by the legislation.Believe tennant farmers manage about a third of farmland who I guess would only be indirectly affected by this.

Supporting the tenanted sector in England – The Farming Blog
Tenant farmers are at the heart of the rural economy, managing a third of all farmland in England. To meet our food security and environmental objectives, we must make sure that all farmers, including tenant farmers, can access our schemesdefrafarming.blog.gov.uk
Not sure how much smaller scale farmers will be affected @orchard might be able to say. A lot of larger farms will manage smaller farms as well with short term leases.
The very worst farmers I have known are the big land owners. Outrageous stories of greed and selfishness. They’re a law unto themselves.
Let’s not pretend anyone suddenly cares about farmers btw. Was the same with fishermen. They’re simply being used by anti labour\ government groups and individuals.
