Your post was a generalised and unfocussed rant. It was like a soundbite from a Tory Party conference from the 80s.
It's a struggle to understand what Labour are doing. Anybody who has followed DWP/unemployment policies for years would realise the white paper ideas are too flimsy and the funding is too miniscule to help. Let's not forget the last Labour government had in place provisions to place unemployed people on training and work experience - it cost billions and led to things like the A4E Scandal. The increase in part time roles, gig economy and zero hour contracts, alongside introduction of UC, rendered them obsolete in their old form.
There's no serious money being channeled into training, it just reads like a cruel policy designed to move the inactive with health issues into the Look For Work category. And 18-21 year old jobseekers to work full time hours for benefit level pay.
As for the DWP managing this reform using AI? It's going to cause a lot of distress and probably deaths when it takes wrong decisions and the DWP doesn't bother to use humans to review the decisions. Doesn't seem like Labour have considered what happens when a system goes wrong such as Post Office.
Perhaps they are just planning 5 years then semi retire on lucrative dinner circut. This group of the electorate they are attacking which i work closely with already astound me with their support for Parties like Reform. And when you read Paramedics are seriously considering voting the same way, Labour and its unwavering support need to give its head a wobble.
Lack of faith in politics is a running theme among voters interviewed by the Guardian, but some believe Farage’s party may be worth a try
