Your post was a generalised and unfocussed rant. It was like a soundbite from a Tory Party conference from the 80s.

Nope.

It comes from experience working in the system and being part of teams that worked with people claiming benefits.

There are people who simply do not want to work and are perfectly happy claiming welfare.

Should just let these people be instead of forcing them into work. Countless governments have tried to force people back into work who don’t have the desire to and it’s created a system that doesn’t help the ones who do.

You’re naive in thinking these people don’t exist.

The Australasian version of the brand, Holden, shut its doors a few years ago, General Motors said in 2020 they were going to stop making right hand drive cars globally. Not sure why this is in the Labour thread Pete.

“ Jonathan Reynolds, the Business Secretary, on Tuesday night confirmed a review of the Government’s zero emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate after warnings from carmakers that the rules were putting the industry’s future at risk.

Vauxhall said on Tuesday it was planning to close its Luton factory after 120 years of manufacturing at the site, putting more than 1,100 jobs at risk. Stellantis, which owns Vauxhall, said it was taking the decision “in the context of the ZEV mandate”.…..

"On February 17, 2020, General Motors announced that it would retire the Holden brand by 2021. This was due to GM's decision to stop making right-hand drive vehicles globally. "

They've been planning this for years Pete. Trust me.

Absolutely agree these people exist however I don't think they should just be let be at all.

Welfare should not be a lifestyle choice and taxpayers shouldn't pick up the bill for the bone idle.

This is brutal as it is distressing. Expectation is Labour really need to get a grip on this and should be priority. And with some confidence these won't be the only schools who engage in this treatment of children with SEND needs. If you really want functioning productive adults these are the area you start looking at..

It's a struggle to understand what Labour are doing. Anybody who has followed DWP/unemployment policies for years would realise the white paper ideas are too flimsy and the funding is too miniscule to help. Let's not forget the last Labour government had in place provisions to place unemployed people on training and work experience - it cost billions and led to things like the A4E Scandal. The increase in part time roles, gig economy and zero hour contracts, alongside introduction of UC, rendered them obsolete in their old form.

There's no serious money being channeled into training, it just reads like a cruel policy designed to move the inactive with health issues into the Look For Work category. And 18-21 year old jobseekers to work full time hours for benefit level pay.

As for the DWP managing this reform using AI? It's going to cause a lot of distress and probably deaths when it takes wrong decisions and the DWP doesn't bother to use humans to review the decisions. Doesn't seem like Labour have considered what happens when a system goes wrong such as Post Office.

Perhaps they are just planning 5 years then semi retire on lucrative dinner circut. This group of the electorate they are attacking which i work closely with already astound me with their support for Parties like Reform. And when you read Paramedics are seriously considering voting the same way, Labour and its unwavering support need to give its head a wobble.
