Spot on mate.

This is a recipe for nightmares for people being treated for mental health especially.

Do Kendall and McGovern, the two in the Starmer Gang tasked with rolling this out, not understand that these people have been legitimately assessed by their own doctors and specialists to determine they are UNFIT for work? They come across sounding like all they need to do is give them a good shake and tell them to pull themselves together.

Unfortunately I can almost guarantee this policy will end in a desperate act by desperate people...and that'll be on the government's heads.
Aye I’d love to see how many folk who were victim of Tory benefit cuts back in Cameron’s time ending up having to work as a result. They would have just acclimatised to a shitter life with more well meaning people running around trying to pick up the pieces.

Sure there should be certain caps on benefits and people absolutely do take the piss but the more it’s squeezed the more has to be spent elsewhere. Ministers are briefed and aware of this but it’s an easy populist headline.

Hopefully, given that there's pilot areas and it's not a full roll out, this lamentable scheme will be ditched. They've given themselves wriggle room to retreat on this...of course, the Kopite Rotheram signed the Liverpool City Region up to this 💩show, so people here and in the north east will suffer.

Quite surprised to see such a wide range of groups giving a positive reaction to the white paper including charities like Scope & the Mental Health & Rowntree Foundations.
I think a lot of people have lost their way, especially during and since covid and their mental health really has suffered. Having good reason to get up, structure and disposable income could work wonders. I spent 5 years on the dole, 5 of the best and worst years of my life

Absolutely agree mate. It’s just rare that something like this is broadly welcomed by economists, business groups & charities.

You’d have to be the sort of disingenuous, politically impotent person who even has to take Daily Mail quotes out of context to try to spin this into a negative it seems.

There's quite a lot of evidence that being in work, having social contact and a routine is positive for mental health and wellbeing.

There will be those that have more serious problems who it would be wrong to push back into work. Of course, Dave is trying to conflate the two to make a fuss, as per.

Claiming benefits is a career choice for a lot of people passed down through parents.

These people have no intention or desire to work and know how to work the system to have a decent living claiming off the state.

No amount of time or money will change this. Just let them be and focus on creating an easier welfare state for the sick, and offering genuine support for those who fall through the cracks who want to get back into work.

The whole system is nothing but a stat driven, box ticking system exercise.

It needs reform from top to bottom.

I can understand why some people are contorting themselves to make a case for the actions of the Starmer Gang as they dont want to acknowledge they were mugged off by them in July.

They came in and bought off a few sections of the workforce with inflation-busting wage rises (no problem with that btw) but they've used that cover to smash the unorganised, like pensioners, low income families and those on benefits.

And dont kid yourself they'll hold out against the farmers; they have a year to think again on that one and they've already 💩 a brick at the prospect of losing every single rural constituency in the country.

Absolute 'kin nonsense this is.

Having had such a public strop in June/July that you know you can't back down from it, and seeing the pretty solid job that Starmer is doing leading the Labour party in Government (still feels great to type that out), you're contorting yourself something silly day after day to find weird attack angles on Labour that the Telegraph would be proud of.

And just to remind us all, you instead "lent your vote" to the party led by George Galloway, a party that is anti-immigration and led by a professed homophobe & transphobe. Contort yourself out of that one.

He’s probably balls deep in the Patterson or Friedkin thread, typing out more unhinged yet predictable attacks on his other two current “hates”.

Fkn weird and disturbed individual that one.
