It happened in June last year but they are still standing councillors and have been deselected for the May local elections. The same with Cllr Ron Abbey in the Wirral, a veteran of local politics and deselected for the far left loony regime
Call me cynical, but perhaps he's a bit miffed he's being chucked off the gravy train.

The independent group can grow in number of MPs but will they ever poll ahead of the Lib Dems? Who´s their charismatic figurehead (not the one who talks about people being a funny tinge I guess)? Where is their membership to campaign? Rowling´s and Blair´s millions can´t create a support base.

Thing is an extreme left wing socialist labour party is unelectable. What needed to happen was for Labour to keep the centre left inside the party and they would have a chance of govt at the next GE. Then when they're in no10 - have a purge, kick-out the centre leftists and go all Che Guevara!

Yet, they got 40% of the vote at the last G.E and are currently polling neck and neck with the Tories... Unelectable isn´t the word I´d use to describe it.

No, councillors don’t receive a wage. They submit expenses for being out of pocket to travel to such meetings. That’ll apply to everyone including former councillor John brace

No, the 7 are simply Blairites. The type of Labour that the likes of The Sun and The Daily Mail can stomach. No idea what David Icke has to do with the observation that this new party will be accepted as being mainstream whilst one of the biggest political parties in the western world will be described as on its last legs.
Because when people start talking about 'The establishment' like it's a bunch of shadowy ne'er-do wells pulling the strings it comes across as a bit conspiracy theorist. The ink hasn't even dried on the resignation letters and yet people such as yourselves are already deciding that 'The Establishment' will treat this group as a government in waiting.

It's interesting, today just reinforces a lot of the criticism that people have for the current Labour party and it's supporters. As soon as someone has an opinion that goes against the binary 'Socialism = Good, Capitalism = Bad' logic that seems to have developed in the group they are immediately decided to be in thrall of 'The Man.'

Have another snap poll, now that the centre left have effectively split the labour party in two and see how they poll now against the Tories? Labour have just handed the next GE to the tories!

No idea to be honest, but breaking free of the duopoly that currently exists has to be a good thing, especially when both of those parties have so many issues.

Ha I think that's exactly what they tried to do - hence the rumours of deselections all over the shop but never pulling the trigger.

To be fair it would be a smart thing to do. A bit 'dictator-ish', but smart.
