You missed my point - Labour polled high against the Tories because they have many centre-left supporters. Following the split, they will now be viewed as a purely far left party by many labour voters and will lose that support. This will only make it harder if not impossible to win the next GE.

Agreed. The Blairites have made it fundamentally clear that they would prefer a Tory government to a Labour one with real Labour policies.
 
So, an older person who has worked their entire life in a manual job earning enough to get-by decides that in retirement they want to serve their community by being a councillor and as such need to travel to various locations across the region to support their constituents needs and you think this should come out of their pension?? Marvellous

Jezza missed a trick here. He should have kept the boat bobbing along despite all the divisions. He should have nipped the anti-semetic stuff in the bud and kept the party together in an uneasy truce. In doing so he would have beaten the tories at the next GE. Now a labour govt is looking more and more like a forlorn hope.
