Further, people who have recently boasted about cheating the exchequer out of significant quantities of inheritance tax should probably pipe down a little when they talk about "stealing £300 off your granny" since they fiddled the system to make sure that money went to their kids instead.

In fact they should probably work out how much they stole from the public purse, divide it by 300 and then go round apologising personally to that many pensioners that frequent any pubs they may or may not run.

Well, if that nonsense is aimed at me it’s incorrect. All taxes paid and everything done above board for over 20+ years. However I look forward to you donating your hard earned money not to your kids or grandchildren but to the poor train drivers……

Not been in this thread for a while; it's become unreadable, much like the Ukraine and Israel threads.

Are the usual suspects conflating the idea that the train drivers are getting pay rises off the back of granny losing her fuel payment?

The weird @davek / @peteblue axis of comedy have come together in a Kim Yong Un / Donald Trump alliance to CRUSH Centrist Starmer and return the country to DEMOCRACY where the rich eat the poor and the poor are united in their disgust.

Remember Jas Athwal, the 'Labour' MP who was caught renting mould-infested flats? He's at it again, this time he's been revealed as the director of a child care company that's been breaching safety rules where over 600 kids are attending day care.

These people were hand picked by the Starmer Gang to replace left wing constituency MPs and candidates to become leadership friendly puppet MPs. In their haste to do so they've let in the lowest of the low scum. And there's scores more like Athwal up and down the country claming their £80k MP salary to go alongside their private sector scams.

Keep on enjoying the socialism.

These are the type of investment groups who own this 'Labour' Party.

Dont, therefore, be surprised when the Starmer Gang do their bidding for them.

Because pensioners are more vulnerable and open to many more dangers in terms of health and instability.

The universal dimension has always been crucial in terms of benefits to pensioners as a universal payment to all pensioners ensures no one in that highly vulnerable group falls through the gaps into poverty. Taking away the universality of pension payments will guarantee that the some of the vulnerable are hit badly.

It's the mark of a civilised society that the able take care of those who aren't able - and a universal approach - not a targeted approach - is the only mechanism of delivery that continues that. If we ditch that we undermine our civilisation.

It's just about as simple as that ^^^ and if people dont get that then they really are 'kin stupid or just plain scum.

And that's fine. But what about millionaire pensioners? Are they vulnerable to poverty too?
