someone has previous for condemning burger flippers.
oh how times change.
oh how times change.
When you use numbers it always goes badly Pete. Especially when you argue all pensioners are unique one minute but think the same the next. All he’s done is ensure 10 million voters will not vote for him.
See above. This is from the BBC article.A black hole wasn't ‘discovered’, it was known by anyone who could be arsed to look.
My wider point is, this huge swathe of the population stayed silent when the universal welfare state was being dismantled and others feeing it. Now they're up in arms. Indeed actively voted for it to be shrunk and others pinched. The ‘rest of the population’ are means tested when they applied for benefits. No pensioner has ever applied for the WFA. That is the way the last Labour government set it up, and supported by successive governments until Sir Freebie came along. Can any of you honestly claim that he is holding up Labours socialist beliefs in doing this. I know you will defend him, but deep inside do you really believe in doing it. If you do, you are more far right than any Tory and should be ashamed of yourselves…..

Because pensioners are more vulnerable and open to many more dangers in terms of health and instability.I think his point is why should pensioners be exempt from the ame standards the rest of us are mate?
And clearly Keir Starmer is not in any way a socialist. That is very obvious, and was very obvious long before he wanted to means test a benefit for pensioners.
People who voted and even lauded the Tories throughout the cuts to welfare and public spending would do well to keep quiet regarding any cuts this Labour Party makes to WFA.My wider point is, this huge swathe of the population stayed silent when the universal welfare state was being dismantled and others feeing it. It is kind of hard to feel sympathy. Now the likes of you are playing the bad socialist card.
Which is frankly why Britain is a mess. It's all me me me. Us us us.
Indeed. To be clear, I'm not too happy with the implementation of this payment reduction. It is clumsy and ham fisted.People who voted and even lauded the Tories throughout the cuts to welfare and public spending would do well to keep quiet regarding any cuts this Labour Party makes to WFA.
They’re using it as a stick to beat Labour whilst pretending to actually care about those less well off all of a sudden.
They clearly couldn’t care less.
This is a gross simplification Dave. There are some very wealthy and prosperous pensioners with significant assets in no need of an extra £300.Because pensioners are more vulnerable and open to many more dangers in terms of health and instability.
The universal dimension has always been crucial in terms of benefits to pensioners as a universal payment to all pensioners ensures no one in that highly vulnerable group falls through the gaps into poverty. Taking away the universality of pension payments will guarantee that the some of the vulnerable are hit badly.
It's the mark of a civilised society that the able take care of those who aren't able - and a universal approach - not a targeted approach - is the only mechanism of delivery that continues that. If we ditch that we undermine our civilisation.
It's just about as simple as that ^^^ and if people dont get that then they really are 'kin stupid or just plain scum.
Yes. Now go and look up the word universal. This is a gross simplification Dave. There are some very wealthy and prosperous pensioners with significant assets in no need of an extra £300.
Usually the ones who are crying loudest about this, actually. And voted Tory. A lot.
Dave = defender of blue rinse Tories. Funny world.
Yes Dave, thing is, we aren't and never were a socialist country. Barely a social democratic one. Personally I find it hard to defend universalism for those to benefit from when they've debrief benefits for anyone else. Particularly when its crocodile tears. if we're having a selective and means tested welfare state, I guess that element should apply universally.Yes. Now go and look up the word universal.
You're defending placing hundreds of thousands of pensioners being placed at risk of poor health and possibly death.
Keep on enjoying the socialism though.
Having net a net worth of 8 mil and having 8 mil in the bank are completely two different things.![]()
Starmer’s £100,000 in tickets and gifts more than any other recent party leader
Prime minister has come under fire recently for clothing, accommodation and glasses provided by Waheed Alliwww.theguardian.com
Keir Starmer has declared more free tickets and gifts than other major party leaders in recent times, with his total now topping £100,000 after recent support for his lifestyle from Labour donor Waheed Alli.
The prime minister has accepted almost 40 sets of free tickets during his time as Labour leader, mostly to football matches but also £4,000 of hospitality at a Taylor Swift concert and £698 of Coldplay tickets in Manchester.
£8M this feller has in his bank account. And while he's claiming his £100,000 freebies he's putting millions of pensioners into fuel poverty.
