Sir Freebie will be gone in 5 years, hopefully I’ll still be around….
Is this he will be gone in 5 years the same Way that Johnson and the Tories were going to win in 2024?

Yes, ok. If they want to hand it back let them. But if you break with universality you end up with millions more pensioners who can ill afford to lose winter fuel payments. So the best policy is to not target. And that's fine. But what about millionaire pensioners? Are they vulnerable to poverty too?
Free box at Arsenal FC is not good. Yet he has not used it. I would hope he has gifted that away to others...Okay, I must admit he does need to knock the VIP lifestyle thing on the head. He’s entitled to a life outside of his job, but tone it down a bit under the circumstances.
Genuine question. Have you met any humans? Does this sound like something people in the real world do?Yes, ok. If they want to hand it back let them.
It's millions. There are a huge amount of pensioners who aren't entitled (just) to pension credit who fall into fuel poverty because of this.Genuine question. Have you met any humans? Does this sound like something people in the real world do?
Don’t remember Pete & Joey saying they’d been handing theirs back over the years.
By the way the number is only millions in the Daily Mail. Even our resident Tory accepts it’s much less than that when he remembers.

Just 800,000 pensioners falling into fuel poverty? The group that worries about Keir being mean to our Angela? Passing her over for stately homes & such?
Rowntree Foundation worst case estimates 800,000 who MAY experience some hardship but this includes the thousands now applying to claim pension credits each week. It’s in this thread.
That’s the stuff! Just use vague terms like “many” makes it harder to call you out on your hyperbole.Just 800,000 pensioners falling into fuel poverty?
Pop the champagne corks then eh?
Listen to yourself, you're actively defending austerity cuts to pensioners, many of whom will suffer real hardship throughout the coming winter.
Congratulations.
It's a nonsense argument. Welfare if you lose a job isn't currently universal regardless of circumstances. That’s the stuff! Just use vague terms like “many” makes it harder to call you out on your hyperbole.
I’m defending means testing so welfare funds, which are not unlimited, go to those in genuine need.
Lifting more people out of abject poverty, is to me at least, more important than maintaining a universal payment where 27% of recipients are asset millionaires.
Can we not give the money to young people surviving on just over £300 a month Dave ? Or do these not matterJust 800,000 pensioners falling into fuel poverty?

Should be hoofed out the Party now.Remember Jas Athwal, the 'Labour' MP who was caught renting mould-infested flats? He's at it again, this time he's been revealed as the director of a child care company that's been breaching safety rules where over 600 kids are attending day care.
These people were hand picked by the Starmer Gang to replace left wing constituency MPs and candidates to become leadership friendly puppet MPs. In their haste to do so they've let in the lowest of the low scum. And there's scores more like Athwal up and down the country claming their £80k MP salary to go alongside their private sector scams.
