I totally agree with this, help should be given to those that need it. My issue with the WFA removal is the sneaky way it was done and the fact that several million who do need the payment will fall through the cracks because of lack of scrutiny or debate, lack of any thought of the impact it would have and to whom…….
covid fast track priority lanes sneaky or off to berlusconi's private derrière palace with the kgb sneaky? We the people deserve to know!

I think you’ll find he has

Also over the last fifty years I must have missed the bit where business did nothing in July and August……

non of those articles say what you think they are saying.
Guess what if you tell an industry they need to be taxed more they are going to push back… the other mentions a lobby group, er lobbying.
The iod piece doesn’t mention labour in the slightest and actually the majority weren’t pessimistic about the economy.

Big deals don’t close in July and August.
To many difficulties in getting the key people on the room at the same time. Mum and pop businesses tick along

I worked for two of the largest companies in the U.K., large contracts were agreed and delivered throughout the year. Business did not close in July and August, just schools….

Lol.

Go and pick a history book up and see what a government of a country on its knees and in a broken financial state did post-1945. They built the modern welfare state that lasted until Thatcher and her Visigoths destroyed it.

Dont listen to any politician who talks about the need to pay down debts. That's a political choice not an economic imperative. If you invest enough into the economy those debts will be reduced in any case with a growing economy. Which is why it was ALWAYS a lie by Starmer's Gang that they'd set about growing the economy.

They're interested in placating the City of London financial houses. That's who they work for.
Ah right, yes, the answer must be found in 1945, which is totally relevant to the world economy in 2024.

You are a meme.

It's so irrelevant it remains a touch stone for every single Labour Government there's been since...even the Red Tory one, who exploit its legacy but are about as far removed from the giants of Atlee, Bevin, Morrison, Cripps etc as they can be. Those men would have denounced Starmer for what he is: a Tory interloper.

Maybe we should study 1600 to 1800, you know, when The UK was the "biggest and best" Nation in the world.

We could make a killing making soap.
