Thank you, actually that means quite a lot to me……

See me, my mum was my hero growing up - she got sick as I was starting my own family.

My sister really came through for her, my stepdad was immense. I struggled.

I read about your wife, family, I see you in them, the people who can care, suffer the indignity of illness and endure.

All the love for that, you're a real person to me, we'll never get close on the politics, but... yeah, all the best x

Politics is just politics, we change one useless group with another.

Family is different, it’s what makes us what we are, and all credit to your mum in what must have been trying circumstances for her. We often forget the difficulties people go through, my father died when I was 14, my mother still had 7 children to raise and she was penniless, which is why we all got jobs at 16 to help out. I don’t want to see anyone go through that again, but politics determines a route, the politicians themselves I have little time for and I’ve often said I’d sack them all and start again…but you are spot on I do use this place as a valve and perhaps maybe should be more respectful……

See, your story would align to my stepfather's - a lifelong Conservative voter - I had no idea, Pete. Appreciate you sharing.

Just as if the lying toe rag didn't know his flats were infested.
Don't think it will matter, if he were minister or something and was connected to government housing brief. Will be forgotten by most, just hypocrites in the right will bang on and on.

Normally fixed contract these things. So if the letting agency feel they have been wrongly sacked they will be seeking compensation, so likely end up in court

...hold on, this 'Labour' MP is on the right himself...unless you think it's a characteristic of the left to rent out slums to people for profit?

By definition being a private landlord is an act of capitalism act as your property is the capital that you're using for earnings (whereas most people have only their labour). As a result I've always assumed it was something that came more naturally to the average Tory, that's true.

In practice though I think there are probably a fair few left-leaning landlords who maybe inherited a property, or bought something with a windfall etc. We live in a capitalist society, and until you're in a position yourself where that money can be left on the table you won't know how your principles will hold when tested.

That said, I'm sure most of them don't have extensive portfolios, and those that do are pretty stupid if they want the exposure of being a Labour MP at the same time.

Not ideal but we are not getting rid of private lets anytime soon because if we did have yourself or "Sam Tarry" way, you would happily crash the housing market plunging millions of hard working families into negative equity which really does matter because it allows to get loans to fix the roof or buy a car for work, you know essential stuff. A move towards much stricter regulation and slowly kill off this housing capatislm is the way to go.

I've said nothing about getting rid of private lets. As long as we have governments not providing local authorities with the cash to build sufficient stocks of affordable rental housing then they'll be a part of the housing supply.

But how does that counter my point that a 'Labour' MP knew about the slum properties he was letting out and only jumped to it when he was caught out?

The bigger issue here is the low calibre of 'Labour' MPs. The leadership have handpicked right wing, money grubbing rubbish like that feller who's real value is that they'll do whatever Starmer and his gang tell them to do by way of voting in parliament and keeping on-message with 'Labour's' right wing agenda and not rebelling.
