And while they are at it…

“Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves are cancelling the winter fuel allowance for pensioners and are calling upon us to make sacrifices and accept difficult financial decisions. This is a grave and unnecessary injustice that will cause great hardship among older people.

It would therefore be consistent and appropriate for MPs to lose their own fuel allowance that they get to cover utility costs for a second home linked to their work as an MP, and share the pain with pensioners. And if they aren't willing to do that the Government should drop plans to scrap the Winter Fuel Allowance”

The very least they can do is allow a HoC debate on WFA, but they are frightened of doing this…
Guessing you’re a bitter Corbynite given your concern for cuts to benefits and public spending.
Your boy lost, get over it.

I realise it's been the parliamentary recess and so there's no real daily Westminster updates to be go on with, but I've found my consumption of political news has taken a huge nosedive regardless since the election. It's just so good to know that decent, competent, well-meaning people are in charge now. Like a weight lifted, or like being able to take a deep calming breath after years of struggling for air amid the Conservative chaos.

Time to let the grown ups get on with governing whilst sniggering at the Tory leadership catfight about to kick off with barely anyone needing to care for once.

Last month, Conservative MP John Glen asked, external the new Labour government if it was planning to reduce the number of domestic flights taken by minister.

In response Cabinet Office minster Ellie Reeves did not say if the number would be cut back but said travel plans would be “decided with consideration of the best use of a minister’s time and in the interests of the taxpayer”.

Using domestic flights allowed ministers to "visit more parts of the United Kingdom" and reduced the need for overnight accommodation, she added.

So basically they will just carry on as usual but hide it under a different heading…….
Correct.

It doesn't affect 10million people.
Wrong.
10 million people will be affected, they know this number. How the 10 million are affected they won’t tell us because in their rush to get it through while Parliament was closed they hadn’t done an impact assessment so Reeves doesn’t have a clue. They won’t discuss it in Parliament where they might be asked questions about numbers and cost to which they would have to provide verbal or written answers. Shambles doesn’t even come close to describing this fiasco….
Correct.

8 weeks into a 'labour' Government:

  • Confirmed continuation of camp on number of children for child tax credits at two
  • Winter fuel allowance taken away from 10 million pensioners
  • Continuation of the rhetoric of demonisation of asylum seekers
  • Reopening of two huge holding centres linked previously with suicides to house migrants
  • Continued complicity with the genocide in Gaza
  • The dropping of huge investment plants for the NHS and transport
  • Allowing dangerous criminals out of prison
  • Cronyism of the Labour Government allowing business sponsors to have the ear of government in return for cash donations
  • The continuation of austerity

Interesting how you weren’t this critical of the last Tory government with such endeavour.
