I've been Labour all my life, but I'm disappointed with the winter fuel allowance thing.

We have the lowest state pension in the G7, so to cut the winter fuel allowance for everyone who is on £218 a week or more (the equivalent of just £11k a year) is disappointing. This policy will cost lives.

I was a train driver. Believe me, they don't need such an enormous rise.

I remember people during the election campaign telling me: "You're wrong Dave. There'll be no return to austerity. Starmer is different - he's just saying stuff to get into office. There'll be a break with austerity" when I posted stuff like this:






...and now here we are - not even out of August - and the austerity announcement is getting officially made this week.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but they are worse than the Tories - at least the Tories kept the winter fuel allowance and gave cost of living payments.

My wife works for the local authority and she sees what people get in benefits and how much money they have saved away. It's eye watering and if we all knew the real facts no one would go to work.
Like you my pride gets in the way and I couldn't do it.

One of the biggest ones coming through now is the prevalence of applications from adult diagnosed ADHD or autism.

With a 7yr wait list in places to get assessed on NHS there are huge proportions of fairly well off people who can afford to pay for a private assessment and with that diagnosis think they are entitled to benefits.

That's not the question people are asking; they're asking "WTF are this government - who told us there'd be change - doing by continuing austerity? Why on earth did I vote these Tories in?".

Its incredible to see so much resentment to Labour after 7 weeks for their tax plans. I can’t even begin to imagine the anger if we'd had a previous Government who had spent a 14 years wasting people's taxes.
