Anyone disputing financial black Labour have inherited, it's all been fact checked and found to be accurate.

"Our verdict
The IFS says many of the challenges Labour outlined this week were “entirely predictable”, and during the election campaign the think tank said that a new government would likely see a shortfall of £10-£20 billion by 2028/29. But it has since said the financial pressures do “genuinely appear to be greater than could be discerned from the outside”.

I would not be a champagne socialist like Starmer ...

I heard an interesting line a while back about champagne socialists. For all the derision, any movement needs champagne socialists, because if socialism was left only to the poor people then nothing would ever come of it...

Anyway, what £60,000 suits? Claims I can find suggest Starmer's 'campaigning wardrobe' was funded for £16k and included his suits, coats, shoes, shirts, the lot. If I had to make daily public appearances touring the country for 6 weeks it wouldn't take me long to burn through my own clothes (and a lot of those wouldn't make me look electable anyway) and it's not like I'd be home every night to throw things in the laundry. The Daily Mail (hardly a source that would give him a free ride) said a casual jacket he was pictured in cost £135. That's not 'cheap', but it's also not really that excessive for decent quality menswear.

This is all an absolute nonsense not helped by parroting OTT figures.

I`ve been wondering about Joeys claim of 60k suits too and I can`t find anything anywhere to verify it.

If I was getting a 60k suit made, I`d want it to be lined with gold and have platinum trim for that price tbh.

Do they even exist ?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but they are worse than the Tories - at least the Tories kept the winter fuel allowance and gave cost of living payments.
They're worse than the official Tories as they never got ordinary people's hopes up then smashed them - everyone knew they were toxic and braced for them; the Red Tories, however, gave the impression things would change for the better but cynically knew they'd worsen th lives of the people they coned into voting for them.

That's the major difference.

In any case - and harsh as it sounds - the mugs who voted for Starmer's crew really should just settle down now and repent at leisure. They were daft enough to vote this lot in with a big majority and now have zero room to complain. Like the official Tory working class voters who got their deference shoved down their throats by Thatcher, Major, Cameron, Johnson and Sunak they have to suffer their embarrassment and take the economic consequences. To everyone who didn't support them, however, this is a situation not of our making and we'll suffer too, but at least we have clear consciences...something I stressed umpteen times during the election campaign.

£50K for chinos and glasses.

There's no cronyism though.

He'll probably be asking Scholtz today to lend him a few Euros for the mini bar.

I think they're probably right to try and firmly pin the state we're in on the last government, but more austerity isn't going to fix it, and constant doom and gloom messaging won't buy them another term.
Austerity and growth are strange bedfellows.

The feller is a pol-economy imbecile.

The alternative is sunny uplit lands where EU comes begging. Dose of reality and grounding is what has been needed since 2016.

To put it brutally I'm pissed off watching the likes of Capita pick up contracts knowing half of what should be their own wage bill will be funded by the tax payer and we end up with less service. I want to see Ofgem with some teeth, the enegery market restructed away profiteering middle players. Not conducive list just flavour structural change, nothing outrageous.

Will take time if we are in similar position come next July August in not adressing these issues then Starmer will be one term PM if that.

I broadly agree, I think, but the alternative isn't sunny uplit lands where EU comes begging. They could give us some long term plans. A vision of what they want to achieve.

That's the major difference.

I have heard it on many TV News Channels SKY etc - Now on Newsnight last night designer glasses to & a free pass to number ten to the ex Toty donator - Its been stopped = Cronyism - everything he accused the Tories of ....

He's off to Germany & France to countries whose growth is less than ours - they are powerless to offer anything as they are in the EU & we are not .....
