Of course, you do deals. What you don’t do is throw money at them for no return, which is where we are now…

But I wouldn't consider an increase under the rate of inflation as throwing money at people like.

You think about all the loss to the economy strikes have had, it's probably much cheaper to pay people what they need to work.

Like I dunno mate, sometimes you can chase the penny and lose site of the pound.

It’s our first past the post system, very simple…Farage got more than half a million votes more than the LibDems…surely you understand this evidence…or maybe not……

But look, this is the electoral system we voted on in a referendum and the country overwhelmingly backed. I'm getting a bit sick and tired of the whining about it. Why have a referendum if the results are ignored.

The reality is, seats won you power not votes. Piling up more votes but losing seats is a very naive approach.

It's odd as well, like Reform voters hate the Tories as well. They won't be easy to win.

Yes that's very true.

But - and I think this was Jones' point - the cynical appropriation of that type of politics (and most people who espouse it are the powerless, let's not forget) by the elite has led to the cementing of class inequality.

I dont mind Owen Jones. Compare him with that utter rat Mason.

Jones is on the same journey. Can't stand Mason. I think Jones eventually ends up where Mason is.

Paul Mason's journey has seen him go from an active Trotskyist through Marxist social commentator to a right wing ideologue who - hiding behind a smokescreen of 'anti-Stalinism' - advocates wars against Russia and China and spies on his former colleagues on the left for the so called 'intelligence community'.

I doubt very much that Owen Jones' is hurtling down that path.

Interesting points. As an aside it does seem to be a lot of Trotskyists who go down that path. I'm not sure why that is. Poor old Trotsky would be turning in his grave.

Jones is certainly on a different path, and you are right was never any kind of Marxist. He was always a left reformist type.

Where they both have similarities though is they are weak and dishonest. Jones tried to undermine Corbyn for Lisa Nandy, and disavowed him because he wasn't patriotic enough in 2016. Jones is also very slippery on Palestine and Israel and has thrown people under that bus.

Even when he realized he was wrong in 2016, he still kept giving ground. That's his instinct, and as you see from Mason the more ground you give, the more they take.

It's probably fair that he won't have the messianical complex Mason does. That's definitely a Trotskyist thing 😂

It's been an interesting shift in mentality from "only ultra leftists wan't electoral reform" to "this FPTP system is completely unfair"
