Starmers comments about things will get worse before they get better must be referring to his and Reeves performances so far……
Pete do you seriously think the Tories were doing a good job? Really?

The Tories mantra has been to say the countries credit card was maxed out. (Unfortunately they’ve also been taking money out of the cash machines with it to sort their mates out).

Why should we believe Hunt etc the economy and public finance is in great shape when Labour took over?

As the Brexiteers keep reminding us Remoaners should get over it. In that case so should the Tories.

No I don’t think that they were doing a good job over the last couple of years. Truss wrecked the economy, Sunak appointed an idiot as Chancellor, inflation ran riot. However the economy and inflation was all moving in the right direction for whoever took over.

The economy was/is growing and is in decent shape, public finances are a shambles and unfortunately caving in to the vested interest unions will only make that worse, while the taxation that will come along to pay for it will also slow down the economy, worst of both worlds.

I have no problem with the fact that Labour won the election, a vote is a vote and should be adhered to. That won’t however stop me pointing out absolute stupid acts, such as the raid on OAP’s…..l

But they never sorted out the NHS, infrastructure etc and kicked the can down the road with the strikes etc

It’s like saying you’ve got loads of money in your bank because you haven’t paid your mortgage or credit cards for months. In the end it’s got to paid somehow.

I think they wanted a quid pro quo. Increase in pay, but improvements, minor or large, in working practices. Starmer just paid the money without any work practice changes, especially so with the train drivers as an example. No government will sort out the NHS until they change the management structure and many of its comfy layers of bureaucracy imo.
As I said, public finance is a shambles and tbh I can’t see how Starmer and Reeves, with the NEC and Unions on their backs, will improve it. But we’ll find out from the drip, drip, drip, of blaming everything bar the weather on the Tories, either today or October……

That opening line 😂

Last couple of years? You are obviously fishing for bites.

We can applaud migrant centres being closed and bloviate about younger generation needing to toughen up when they lose rights and freedoms, but we must all be appalled at pensioners having a top up benefit that most of them don’t need but still take it anyway , taken away.

That's how this works Bruce.
Made a little fix there for you mate

Better late than never, but the influential centre-left economist Danny Blanchflower now questions his support for Starmer's lot.

They're just a rubbish Tory second XI.
