I’m loving this … was only a few months ago Pete was all pompous and condescending when his Tory party were in power…. Now he’s stomping up and down like a kid who’s had his sweets taken away… and don’t get me started on Dave … he’d argue with his shadow in an empty room. It’s compulsive viewing.
The other day P-dog was going on about the long term unemployed as well. Super stuff is it?

The embodiment of socialism.
If Reform had not for a big vote this time around, Labour would only have a small majority - fact - plus their policy of anyone under £20, 000 is far more socialism than Labours - OK you would have to pay £50 to see a GP like France you EU loving country like yourself, but this policy is only the start - I can see swinging benefit changes next - all Labour had to do was a bigger windfall tax on the oil & gas companies like they preached prior to the elections ?

Hoe about donations 60, grand for Sir Keir's suits ? A real socialist = Not - they are all the same snouts in the trough of governments ....

Reforms tax plans which disproportionately impacted the wealthy do not seem to align with your socialist roots Joey.

The only people who would benefit from reform policies would be Farage and his pals.

If the tories were still on power they would've given him a peerage.
Starmer No Austerity from my Government 2 weeks & he without telling the DWP takes away the OAPs fuel allowance knowing fuel was going up 10 % - great socialism - his sliding scale - Martin Lewis stated council tax bands of A B C D should get it that stops the rich with the big homes out = common-sense -

Policies on the back of a cigarette packet - & appointing Ed Miliband as energy minister - he would be clueless of changing a light bulb - we have all been conned - No social care plan -

Then he receives a donation & uses it to purchase 60 grands worth of suits for his campaign ? WTF is going on

I repeat, another Labour leader in a blue rosette - & today It's going to get worse before it gets better - straight out of Cameron & Osbourne's mouth that statement ....

This is Tony Blair on steroids & I was duped to vote for him ..... I fear the worse for every ilk other than the rich ...

And yet you've suggested you regret not voting Reform.

Been chatting with a couple of the old fellas down the road. They're not too concerned about the fuel payments. Both are in social housing which were retrofitted last summer with external wall insulation. That alone saw their usage drop significantly. One reckons he worked it at around £400 off his annual gas bill.

Anyways, that's fine for them, but not everyone is in that position. Point being here, this isn't a black and white issue and there's probably much more effective longer term investments to bring down bills.

Is it austerity you have a problem with Pete or when a vulnerable group you have an affinity with has to feel the effects?

Because your posting history seems to suggest you see austerity as necessary or actually 'not that bad'.

That’s actually a good question, if we as a country need to tighten our belts across the board then fair enough. And we will all experience it again come the budget. But there are always those that need protection, and I’m not talking about train drivers. Of course at my age I have an ‘affinity’ with other retired folk because I’m closer to the issues. Unlike other age groups they cannot simply work extra hours or take up additional jobs due to being a bit more frail and with employers always opting for the young which is to be expected. A great many of them, millions in fact, need and deserve additional protection. What is galling in the extreme is this obvious political gesture of robbing the poor who cannot work to give to those in well paid jobs.

I will happily pay my taxes as I always have done, but there has to be a degree of fairness from government towards those who are simply incapable of helping themselves and that’s what I’m upset about…..

Not at all, I wanted Sunak gone, but while I thought even Labours Starmer and Reeves can’t screw this up more, they morphed into Mortimer and Reeves and this bad joke is on us all…..

You have to see how open you are to accusations of hypocrisy when you supported previous Tory spending cuts, affecting (among others) people on disability benefits and low income families.
Posters in here will likely feel that you’re using this as a stick to beat Labour with, rather than any real concern for others
