What, suspend the whole CLP because someone called for a motion?

She was voted an MP what two years ago? The public have put their trust in her and unless she goes around saying that Margaret Thatcher was the best thing that ever happened to Liverpool or something along those lines she should be free to get on with her job. All the vote was going to do is pull apart at the seems/empowering a more militant version of the party to rise and another faux pas for Labour to publicly deal with.

You are a fine and intelligent poster but I think you might be too invested and close to this Labour party to see what it might look to the rest of the people (who of course be less informed than you). From my point of view if the CLP are going to take this kind of action there has to be a specific and legitimate reason for doing so.

She is the MP, and she would remain as the MP even if the vote of no confidence had been passed. What this looked like it was about is who gets to be the next Labour candidate; personally as said above I would rather the CLP have asked her whether or not she actually was going to be that candidate. This is not an unreasonable request given that its them who do the door-knocking, the leaflet drops, the speaking to people in the street, and when she has been going around implying that she was considering quitting the party.

I live down in London and have nothing to do with that CLP (though mine has also had a vote of no confidence passed last year, but it was for Kate Hoey so there was no round of solidarity on Twitter or indeed any expression of support), but for Watson to call for the entire CLP to be suspended before a motion is even voted on (and imply they are all bullying their MP) is a bit much.

I was already aware that this is just for future suitability to be the candidate at the next election. But how many people take notice of that? Are they just seeing someone who has been called a Zionist and has received death threats, is being bullied out of the party?

It is not a good news day and that is why Watson has done what he has to try and contain it. Perhaps there is a risk that it now brings more focus and press to it than had they let the vote go ahead as it was already a bit late. It's just the kind of thing that the party needs to shed or we will get 5 more years of Tory rule after 2022.

It isn't, though "that is a bad look" is something that is usually defined by the media to save you the effort of finding something out for yourself.

That is the problem when you don't have widespread media support. If this happened under the early years under Blair it would be not an issue. As the media dislike Labour almost any story allows them to paint whatever picture they want. The trick is not to give them stories that are easily turned into bigger issues.

Genuinely feels like us against the world with regards to the Labour Party. The establishment absolutely despise our existence and it would seem even some of our own MPs do as well.

Berger couldn't even say she would rather have Corbyn as PM over May. Is it any wonder that this parachuted MP isn't liked by local members?

Before, I personally just spoken to an individual who is involved in grass roots Labour in the Wavertree area. She suggested that it very much is to do with Corbyn.

'Bad look' comment was in regards to it's relation to her antisemitism campaign.

Her words were that one of the motions of no confidence came from 'an anti-Semitic 9/11 truther' so that may be a part. Like I said, she's involved in local politics.

Either way, the comment I heard shows the extent of the disharmony in the labour movement if they're so willing to lambaste their own, even at a grass roots level.

I am not sure how you think its possible not to give them stories that are easily turned into bigger issues; if you want a demonstration of that, look what that rag did to Richard Burgon.
