If you don't get elected then it doesn't matter if you had the highest convictions and decency.

The problem with this is that having convictions and decency is precisely what the media object to.

Look at today’s Mail on Sunday for example - not the Corbyn revelations, but the part above that on the front page where they took a letter from the (at present heavily pregnant) Duchess of Sussex to her dad, in which she pleads for him to stop talking to the papers because of the damage it’s doing to her and their relationship, and puts that on the front page. Then, if you can stomach it, look in the comments, which are moderated don’t forget.

That these people have the nerve to go on about hate astounds me, almost as much as people thinking these rags can or should be reasoned with does.

For some of us your first paragraph is enough, I could work the rest out it's that transparent, however some do still refuse to or, just don't want, to see it.
