Brexit in one sentence right there.

Joking aside though, the EU must know that it is politically impossible for May and the Tories to do anything that looks like following Corbyn's suggestion. They're piling pressure on her at an opportune time. I wouldn't say it's guaranteed that they're on board with the proposals or just find them a useful stick to whack May with.

While (if true) stupid of the leadership and the opposite of listening to members... the boat for a peoples vote sailed a year ago and the clock has run down, I'd love to know when this magical vote could take place, it would take them a year just to settle on the question

I think the point is that his team have gazumped the Labour Brexit secretary tbh.

Yes, it seems very likely that we'd end the letter with "or else there will be a People's Vote" on the basis that we were unable to get something as luke-warm as the Cooper amendment through.

Seems completely legit.

WHY AREN'T YOU PRESSING THAT BIG OLD #STOPBREXIT BUTTON JEZZA? WHY AREN'T YOU #STOPBREXIT JEZZA? WHY JEZZA? WHY AREN'T YOU STOPPING IT JEZZA?

Aah, it's getting to me mate.

The entire thing is so tiresome at this point, all of it. I love campaigning, but the burn out is real. Believe it or not, I'm a huge europhile - but the PV campaign has made even me waiver.

Too much.

Tend to agree mate. Whatever side of the EU/Political divide one is on, not many MPs have coated themselves in glory these last few months.

A journalist reporting something said off the record by a Labour figure critical of Corbyn?

I am shocked - shocked, I tell you - to find on that is going on here.

It's handy Trump has created this fake news narrative isn't it? Means you can dismiss anything you like. I mean it's not like we don't have a recent example of an MP who doesn't support Corbyn being threatened with deselection. I'm sure that wouldn't encourage any MP to do things off the record rather than stick their head out.

Where did I dismiss it?

The point was that the media gets to tell us what facts it wants. Starmer may well have been angry that Corbyn didn’t include that piece in his letter; did you see any context given as to why he didn’t, or details of discussions between the two over this, or when that bit of the letter went into it? Surely that’s required before coming to a decision over it?

Take deselection for instance; did you know the Stamford Tory Association have just had a vote to deselect Nick Boles?

You’d think this would be major news given the recent furore in Labour, especially as the reasons publicly given for the vote are largely the same, but it seems not.
