My Parents are fine, so are my in laws, it is my understanding that the "lower income" OAPs are still entitled to it?

Indeed, my point being that there’s about 800,000 who should be entitled but for reasons of pride, health or mental capability haven’t. It’s these that I’m raising this for. I’m not going to let this go, I’ve been involved in caring for the elderly way before it hit my wife, I raised it at todays Carers zoom call and will do whatever I can for them. It would be nice if our so called socialists on here did similar but tbh I wouldn’t hold my breath…..

Pete when I was a youth my surviving grandparents (all now deceased, God bless them all in their rest) got a worse deal than the current generation of pensioners get, by quite a long way. This was despite them actually fighting the war, keeping the home fires burning, being in the land army etc etc. Their contemporaries used to freeze to death before they got help with winter fuel payments as well.

Which is a good reason not to go backwards in our treatment of them…..

My problem is that young folk like yourself are so selfish now that you cannot even think ahead to what life may be like for yourself when you become a pensioner. Most pensioners struggle, but rarely complain. They cannot go back to work, having done so all their lives, no doubt far longer than the years some on here have been on the planet, and are therefore at the mercy of whatever government is in power. As I’ve said earlier if the Tories had done this you and most on here would be up in arms, myself included, but because it’s Labour you are all making excuses for them. These are the facts of life which many on here have no experience…..

Perhaps you could lay into the thefts of those pensions, by such arch tories as robert maxwell, phillip green, the rover workers debacle etc...
Where there is a pension plunder, there is a tory at the heart of it making themselves wealthy from someone elses pain.

If this had been done by the Tories I’d have said exactly the same. I am a socialist at heart and behave accordingly, however socialism requires money to pay for it , the Tories know how to generate money , Labour doesn’t and never has….

It’s not a weird hill to die on.it’s basic humanity towards your mum and dad, grandma and granddad, and if you can’t see this then I feel sorry both for you and your family……but by all means carry on apologising for what you voted for…..

My family are self sufficient. I feel for families that aren't, however by the Tory mantra they should have prepared in the same way. You sound quite the socialist advocating for this
