Come on Pete. Don't be naive. Look at the protests (not just here but elsewhere) about attempts to change the retirement age. People kick up all manner of fuss when their entitlements are changed, just as you're doing right now. So it's the easiest thing in the world to say that pension reform should happen to make it sustainable in the long-term, but the reality is that governments prefer to kick that can down the road for the next lot to sort out. It's like debt. It's just piled on as it's jam today, so we've got the spectre of both debt and the state pension swallowing up ever larger amounts of the budget, with the demographic situation meaning that fewer workers are able to pay for it (and those same retirees generally opposed to the kind of migration that might boost the workforce). It’s the government, not the boomers, who set the pension, including both Blair and Brown. However it was Blair and Brown immediately who raided pension funds and ruined the pensions of millions so they could spend on their client state. Starmer is doing exactly the same, so point your finger at those in power and not the ‘boomers’ ,you know, your parents and grandparents, who seem to be incorrectly blamed for everything…..
