Interestingly, I note that the welfare claim page was last changed last year

I suspect I can find your complaints about it last year if I look? Or when it was published in 2020? Or indeed at any point since Pension Credit was introduced in 2003?

As an aside, it's interesting that the £173.50 a week a single pensioner gets is (justifiably) right and affordable, yet the £37.50 an asylum seeker gets to live on is an abhorrent waste of money.

As I’ve never claimed anything of this nature why would I have even known about the forms for welfare claims. I looked it up after Reeves attack on pensioners. Can I therefore expect to find your comments previously expressed about the form or have you only looked this up after I raised it ?……..

I've been quite consistent in my belief that pensioners have had a good deal for some time now, both because they vote in large numbers and traditionally back the Tories.

I make these points not because I require an amount of money that would barely cover a round of drinks or a meal, but because there are people out there who actually need it and for whom at the coldest points may become life threatening. I have always believed that people should stand on their own two feet, if they can, and I have never changed my views regarding support for the disadvantaged and would give them whatever is needed. Doctors, who will retire on generous pensions btw, have been offered a 22% pay rise, but even now are demanding 35% while some pensioners will effectively lose 3% of their very small income to pay for it. It’s disgusting and anyone defending it should be ashamed of themselves….
It's a weird hill to die on after all the cuts to benefits under Tory rule.

In terms of the money that you mentioned, there is a bit of a difference. My wife for instance gets nowhere near that upper figure, having spent 60 years paying in to HMRC and contributing to the economy, the illegal immigrants of which you are so fond have contributed nothing, zilch, now in 60 years time I would be disgusted if they got less than anybody else. However so far all they have done is cost us money. Who do you believe is more deserving?…..

It’s not a weird hill to die on.it’s basic humanity towards your mum and dad, grandma and granddad, and if you can’t see this then I feel sorry both for you and your family……but by all means carry on apologising for what you voted for…..

So what you are saying is pensioners vote Tory so should be attacked to pay for the public sector who vote Labour. Charming…you do realise that we are still all the same people…..

My Parents are fine, so are my in laws, it is my understanding that the "lower income" OAPs are still entitled to it?

Pete when I was a youth my surviving grandparents (all now deceased, God bless them all in their rest) got a worse deal than the current generation of pensioners get, by quite a long way. This was despite them actually fighting the war, keeping the home fires burning, being in the land army etc etc. Their contemporaries used to freeze to death before they got help with winter fuel payments as well.

The Conservative Government, led by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher introduced the Gas Act 1986, which led to the privatisation of the company, and on 8 December 1986, its shares floated on the London stock market. To encourage individuals to become shareholders, the offer was intensely advertised with the "If you see Sid...Tell him!" campaign. The privatisation was criticised by Baron Gray of Contin who said it broke a key part of the Conservative's 1983 manifesto that the party would not simply replace one monopoly with another; at the time, British Gas was the only organisation that could supply gas to anyone in the country.

Some might say if the above didnt happen, nobody would have to worry about Winter Fuel payments, but thats too simplistic I suppose.

Jesus Christ.

'illegal immigrants' which I take your meaning for asylum seekers, aren't entitled to benefits. We do provide housing if we can.

It's 'basic humanity' to use your words above.

You are absolutely minted, what the **** is your problem?
