Keynes was quite clear. He advocated running a deficit during recessions, with that deficit paid for by a surplus during growth periods. Nowadays, governments run deficits regardless, it's just a matter of how big it is. It's not like you to not know the things you parrot.
But they're looking to NOT SPEND. They're committed to reducing debt through their spending review.

Maybe take a lie down or something?

Not really a suprise to those that were paying attention.

Your Tory mates gave all the money to their mates and wasted it.

Its gonna take time to grow the economy, but hey, I guess you must rate Labour highly if you thought it was gonna take 5 weeks.
Ha Ha Ha. "Grow the economy". Grow their private sector backers bank accounts you mean.

You'll see how this thing goes very shortly.

The only way for a Keynesian approach to be taken is to reduce spending or increase taxes (which are already the highest since WW2). It doesn't sound like you're a Keynesian Dave, or even know what one is.

Good to see the news of pay rises for teachers and NHS workers.

Disappointed to hear the news of cuts to infrastructure projects, a common theme in Camerons government.

Still see the half finished, now derelict projects across the city and its disappointing to see a Labour government contribute to that.

…..they’ve been in power for 4 weeks, I think we’ll have more of an idea on investment projects after the spending review and budget later this year.

The GE was on the 4th of July this month. It's the 29th today. These charlatans have had 24 days to unpick, undo, and fix completely 14 years of tory crime.

They have failed. They promised to fix everything instantly, and quite simply this effort is not good enough. Boot them out, get them gone, we'd be better off with anarchy. Hooray for team tory, a great bunch of lads n lasses.

In times of no or low growth the state has to turn the taps on and go for deficit spending. That's the situation we're in. Reeves isn't doing that though, is she?

Where, pray, does cancelling large scale infrastructure projects costing tens of billions fit into this perverse misreading of Keynes you've introduced?

3 times in the last 30 years has the government run a surplus and paid down the debt. This was doable in a period of record low interest rates. It's not so doable now. Heck, even America, which has the advantage of being the world's currency, is having to rein in its huge deficit. I know you're an old fart so don't have to worry about future generations and the debt they'll be burdened with. I mean the £116bn that was paid in interest alone last year is peanuts next to £20bn of infrastructure investments.

Some good and not so good things from Reeves before.

She gave a good Political statement undermined by ‘we can’t spend money we do not have’, before announcing Pay increases for the public sector. She also looked decidedly sheepish while Hunt ripped apart the black hole numbers which turned out to be costs due to her own choices. Anyway it was all fully expected and sets her up for the inevitable tax increases to be announced at the end of October. So it’s pay rises for public sector, partly paid for by the abolition of the pensioner winter fuel payments so far…..
