Are you saying that the Conservatives misled the OB to the tune of 20 billion? Seems like a drop in the ocean compared to the rest of the black hole that is the UK's finances. So the softening up process ‘worst set of accounts since WW2’ and ‘we’ve discovered a £20Bn black hole which we didn’t know about’ will culminate in the new Chancellor telling us all that tough decisions (tax rises) will have to take place in the next budget. Even though the numbers have been made available by the OBR for 14 years it’s come as ‘a complete shock’. Labour have some difficult decisions to make about how to repair the country's economy and I doubt many people are going to be happy about whatever they do. If they go down the same route as the Conservatives and worsen the economy then is the time for criticism instead of worrying about some hypothetical scenarios made to induce panic.
