Current Affairs The Labour Party

I expect better of the Labour Party to not be as bad as the tories.

The bar is as low as it’s ever been.
The country is on it's knees, there is no quick fix, the hs2 fiasco from two weeks ago shows the current shambles is quite prepared to do harm now that will hurt the next government and thus the people. We are all weary, they've stuffed us all on brexit, they put truss in to rape the corpse, and now the country owes over three times the deficit from when they took over in 2010. Brown called it a scarred generation, I think he was underplaying it, it's scarred generations. The animosity to the decision makers (government) and their gestapo (pigs) has never been higher. "Work hard and you'll do well" - long gone.

I know mate. However if @Rita_Poon is distressed I thought Ild ask for it to be taken down. 🤷‍♂️

Was onside with Lineker over the Rwanda thing, and had him and Wrighty as pic at the time, so back to previous standards. Anything for an easy life. Thankyou for asking. :)

Starmer to add some pragmatism rather than protest, a ceasefire would be one-sided, how does anyone reason or negotiate with Hamas...

So a ceasefire is simply pie in the sky. Never going to happen.

I guess we are about to see more world class politics from the people that couldn't organize themselves out of a paper bag then.

What exactly is the western consensus? Many EU states want an immediate ceasefire - is the consensus only applicable to those who dont want a ceasefire?

Imho Starmer is desperate to avoid being less right-wing to right-winger voters than the Tories.

He wants to be the anti-corbyn, whatever the consequences.

just been on bbc live calling for peace. his sir-ship isn't even pm yet.

Pragmatism over protest keeps you at the table-

Sir Keir says the war is "an issue that so many people recoil from out of despair", adding: "Anyone who has followed this closely [will have] seen images that can never be unseen... the innocent dead, Israeli, Palestinian, Muslin, Jew".

The Labour leader says the consequences of the conflict "could last for decades" and "the trauma may never fade" - but it is important to tackle the "ever darkening cloud of misinformation".

He describes the horrific terror attack in Israel of 7 October, saying: "Make no mistake, this is terrorism on a scale and brutality that few countries have ever experienced".

Sir Keir also outlines the "unimaginable scale" of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza
He says his approach has been "driven by the need to respond to both these tragedies", standing by the "right of self defence" for Israel and the "basic human rights of innocent Palestinians", and reiterating the desire for a two-state solution.

The Labour leader says he understands calls for a ceasefire but doesn't believe it is the "correct position" as it would leave Hamas with the "infrastructure and capability" to carry out another attack
Instead, he says a so-called humanitarian pause to let aid into Gaza is "the only credible approach that has any chance of achieving what we all want to see... urgent alleviating of Palestinian suffering".

He says the "facts on the ground will inevitably change" and "we must move to cessation of fighting as quickly as possible" as "neither the long term security of Israel nor long term justice for Palestine can be delivered by bombs and bullets" - adding a "political agreement, however unlikely that seems today... is the only way to resolve this conflict once and for all"

Without even clicking that link I knew it'd be a load of BS designed to justify his cowardice and abandonment of leadership.

It's "Not the right time" for a ceasefire to end the catastrophe and killing of thousands of babies and toddlers.

I mean, is there anyone preparing to vote for this scum who's prepared to defend this?

Really?

October 7th is terrorism; the weeks since then with the incessant attacks on Gaza killing 5x as many people is "a humanitarian crisis".

If he thinks that gets him out of the trouble he's in he's badly miscalculated.

This is his Blair-Iraq moment. He'll be defined by this forever.

That doesn't answer my question really.

Do you want a man prepared to stand idly by and not condemn the slaughter of babies as your PM?

Before you answer that think about what you'd be like if you were a father of one of those babies and you read Starmer's muck today...telling you its not the right time to save other babies like the one you lost.

Starmer has shat his kicks and can't hack this.

The truth of the matter is that he has very little experience in politics and no political smarts.

We'll see the cut of this feller now. I reckon he unravels. This Gaza slaughter and his failure to address it will be th prelude to him being found out on other issues.

One thing's for sure: Starmer is no leader. He's a coat tailer. He has't got the balls to lead. He had a chance to convince many of us we were wrong about him with this =gaza situation - he's merely underlined we were all right.
