Current Affairs The Labour Party

Starmer is suggesting through this behaviour that he's a career politician and not really anyone of any substance, which I don't think most of us will be surprised by. Sadly to be "electable" you have to be anodyne to one degree or another when you're the "left" candidate because the electorate seems to only really accept that right wing politicians can have actual personalities for the most part

I do personally think it's weird that so much pressure is being put on the opposition to try and get this ceasefire set up instead of the party that, you know, is actually in government though

Labour can say whatever they want, it's the Tories who are in power and nothing will get done unless they choose to do it

Yes, it would be nice for Starmer to actually put his arse on the line somewhat and try to get something done here, but ultimately Sunak is the one who needs to get in the room with Biden and the Israeli government representatives to try and iron this all out

Starmer is smart enough to know that the media are sharpening their knives just waiting for a chance to get him on something right now, so he's playing the game and treading lightly. It's disappointing, and a symptom of how ruined our political system has become, but I understand why he's doing it
Nail on head.

Starmer has done a decent job so far of sitting back and watching the Tory’s self implode, as they were obviously going to with a cretin like Johnson running affairs.

He’s playing the long game and needs to continue to do so in order to make sure we are rid of these incompetents and crooks at the next GE.

"Hamas is Bad and Israel must be allowed to defend itself"
"Basically stick to the American line '
Starmer obviously preparing himself for the prime minister's job as
America's lap dog.
5 more years of Tory-lite government if he gets in. I've had it with him, cancelled my party membership and he can stuff the leaflets through the letterboxes himself from now on. I wish Labour fought as hard for its people as the Tories do for theirs.

Those on the left already have suspicion of starmer anyway
He is weighing the sides up and looks to be calculating that the current stance is more in line to get him elected.
Of course they're suspicious, his first name is 'sir' and he got it on behalf of the cps, the enablers of the most corrupt, racist, homophobic, misogynistic gang to roam the land. That he can head the alternative and be leading is the most telling slight against the current regime there can be. And we in the uk have the audacity to tut and roll our eyes at the crud show in the us.

the irony.
fighting for millions is a lot more taxing than fighting for the wealthy few.

read it again.

Same as it's ever been. Prefer that scenario than being Uncle Xi lap Pangolin. Geopolitics is a harsh reality. That us smaller folk take for granted or very clearly don't care for, myself included.

That's not the point:

1/ there's enough seats where angry Muslim voters can mean a defeat for 'Labour'

2/ any LP worthy of the name should be leading the way with outrage over this slaughter...but this Starmer scum are dismissing that as 'virtue signalling'. Can you imagine that? THAT is how far Starmer's lot have taken that party from its core values
Know your electorate, in other words read the room. And If Muslim vote abandons Labour over this we will have full 5 years of Sunak as Tory PM.

I think it is the fighting hard for their people that is about to get them kicked out of power. Absolutely got a tin ear to the country.

It's a tough one though. I know a lot of people feeling let down by this Labour party. Not just the 'hard left' (whatever that means) but members who are more centre leaning but want something different to Blairism # 2.

I do wonder how costly potentially losing the faithful may be in the election. Will people grit their teeth and vote for 'best chance to oust the Tories' or follow their principles and vote elsewhere (Green, for example).

Watch the scum and the other red tops go into overdrive, and the overlap of issues bleed into opinion on here, dirt filth tory pig-scum-supporters laughing it up.
