Sorry to say, but even if there was a possibility of a referendum for a vote on Irish unification then despite the outcome it will simply feed into the hands of the extremists on either side who would vehemently object to any result and open up the sores of the past with bombs and bullets. I doubt neither the Southern or Northern governments really want to go down that route especially as a generation has, in the main, grown up knowing nothing but peace and reconciliation.

A backward step and one left well alone, currently. Wait until the older generation(s) with all their baggage whittle off this mortal coil and the children of today can then make their own choice.

Yep, that’s where I also think tho that Rishi might now think that the Union is sorted (Labour kicking the SNP out everywhere) and he can just concentrate on his Brexit voting English seats to hold onto.

Tbh mate, I think that recent burst of Unionism was more to do with securing the votes of bigots in Rutherglen and Hamilton West last night.

That's how 'principled' this man is, that's how short termist he is.

He's not friend of the nationalist community over there. In fact he's a hired prize fighter for Unionism in all its guises.

And there's people on this forum lecturing me on not voting for that piece of 'kin trash.

I suspect that the SNP will face further losses in Glasgow and maybe some in the central belt in the General Election if the Tories up there continue this trend of backing the other Unionist party - the Tory-max 'Labour' Party. But elsewhere the Independence vote will hold up.

The SNP will still take about 30 odd seats in next years Westminster election.

Fair enough. He has previously said he will campaign for NI to remain part of the UK, hardly the neutral arbiter he is required to be. That he also led the PPS over here means he will have to earn the trust of Nationalism and he hasn’t made a great start.

Those poor people are being wiped out by a fascist state and the Starmer-Mandelson Party are determined to use the issue to withchunt the left of their own party even more. This is a vehicle for 'disciplinary' action against the left, nothing more and nothing less.

The left inside 'Labour' should get out and form a new socialist party.
