Have you checked on the state of that party lately.

No one can utter a word that is remotely off message or they are expelled. Does that sound healthy to you.
And that message is pure Farage.
And been really effective at acquiring the disaffected vote. Oh wait no it, nevermind...

Mate, that could apply to every government I've lived under since since 1964 across 3 countries.
Of course, but the depth of the feeling outside that party about the complete let down Starmer's lot are will match the feeling inside the party and they won't be touched for a generation or more.

People are expecting Blairism. They're in for a rude awakening on that. It'll be austerity with a red tie on it.

Not ideal, but not the time to br worried about it all out to get the tories out .
Then work on what we need from labour.
Without power its all a waste of time anyway

If this was any other time - the Tories on the floor and a Labour Government about to be installed - I'd be cock-a-hoop mate...even if it were a Blair or Brown or Miliband led party.

But this feller is a 'kin horror show waiting to happen.

I don’t think it will be austerity, at least as expressed by the Coalition (where the state performed functions were clobbered but outsourcing etc were protected).

For a start there’s no more fat to trim anywhere in the state, except for the deliberately wasteful bits. If he wants to cut spending (and we should) then he’s got to deal with the way the railways are set up, with PFI, outside consultancies etc and generally improving the standard of government.

I think we'll see a lot of the PFI thing back in fashion - listening to 'Labour' front benchers that seems highly likely. They made it plain they won't be borrowing and they won't use tax to create spending. The NHS will be finally privatised under 'Labour'.

All talk of a sovereign wealth fund is for the birds. That isn't happening.

They talk all the time about doing stuff in the second half of a term in office...in other words: kicked into the long grass and forgotten about.

Vote 'Labour' get the Tories.

I disagree, that particular genie is out of the bottle now and no one is going to swallow yet more of it. If they are going to do more private sector involvement it will probably be along the French lines, where patients can when diagnosed opt for private treatment (part paid for by the NHS).

Tbh mate, I think that recent burst of Unionism was more to do with securing the votes of bigots in Rutherglen and Hamilton West last night.

That's how 'principled' this man is, that's how short termist he is.

He's not friend of the nationalist community over there. In fact he's a hired prize fighter for Unionism in all its guises.

And there's people on this forum lecturing me on not voting for that piece of 'kin trash.

Pfffft!
Just reading the text of a speech from Chris Heaten-Harris last week. In it he stated that ‘Kier Starmer will take a sledgehammer to the Union’.

I can see the logic in your own comments above in light of that.

It was the ERG that took the sledgehammer to the Union but that’s besides the point.

Starter's lot will destroy the NHS...the perfect vehicle for the market to finally commodify it all. The private sector know that a two-tier health service spells the end of the NHS.

Starmer is all about shutting down any controversy that could lose votes. If backing a border poll endangered a win yesterday then they'd move against...as he did.

The Labour Party in Scotland has a long and lamentable record on sectarianism. They've been part of the problem up there in that respect. Just a small example but representative enough:

https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/16898692.labour-hit-sectarianism-row-anti-catholic-joke/

That's really been the key to the SNPs success: they reinvented themselves as a party for all Scots and it attracted a lot of people who would identify with Nationalism in Ireland. The Scottish LP historically has been a rancid organisation captured by bigots. Expect more of the same from now on because they never took the time in opposition to reconfigure themselves on that score.
