They haven’t a clue. Try to appeal to everyone and appeal to no one. When they lose the next election they will need a proper assessment as to why they have lost to the worst government in living memory.
Certainly in England it applies less to other parts of the Kingdom due devolution, there is something very insidious at the heart of English politics. Quickly coming to a complete break up.

We’re always just 2 steps behind the states. This time we have a choice between an utter buffoon and someone who all he appears to have going for him is that he’s not the utter Buffoon and that’s what Labour are going to
try and win the election with. It’s just kicking the can down the road without addressing and real problems.

Starmer surely has to go as leader. How can the leader of ‘kin LABOUR be against strike action from unions? Especially when this is days after the Tories have said they’re going to remove pay caps on banking bosses in London
Yeah, Starmer is having a shocker here. He can easily avoid endorsing the strikes but still stay onside.
Sommat like. I support people's right ask to not have an effective pay cut and see mates lose their jobs.
Simples, job done.

I feel he has lived off covid and party's and now it comes to actual grown up stuff, he is being found wanting.
For me. I think he either needs to step up and decide what he and his Labour stand for,.or pass it on to someone else to do it.

Absolutely shocking this

Think Starmer would be better served putting wider policy together for many workers rather playing a short game in support of this one strike. And I would expect to see this policy from forthcoming party conference...

From what I gather Unite aren't enthused by partizan party politics under their current leadership, so the connection may be being eroded in both directions.

According to various news outlets he has told front bench MPs to avoid picket lines?

See, I am not that political, as in, have never been a member of any party. Nor am I wedded to only ever voting for the same party regardless.

A floater I believe the phrase is. But I see chaos and a pita for millions of folk, many, presumably, "workers", and again, to my eye, the strikers are not exactly poorly paid. I have no clue about their T&Cs mind. Maybe they are terrible.

I am fully aware of the origins, (and reasons why) of the Labour Party, and most likely would have joined it back then. But days have changed, and the "must support any strike and visit picket lines" mantra, to me, is just outdated twaddle that resonates with a tiny number of the electorate. Maybe I am wrong.

For the record, I spent the last 2 years as a carer, (£10 a day), and the previous 6 or 7 as a delivery driver. A worker.

The strike has reasonable grounds for being carried out. Covid causing short term issues in the rail industry should not allow these companies to massively reduce workers rights.

Like I said, I have no idea, other than a pay rise, what the strike is actually about. What rights are being massively reduced? Cos thats not good if so.

But the wider point I struggle with is why Labour MPs have to, automatically, support every single strike. Other than ancient history.
