Starmer surely has to go as leader. How can the leader of ‘kin LABOUR be against strike action from unions? Especially when this is days after the Tories have said they’re going to remove pay caps on banking bosses in London
Certainly in England it applies less to other parts of the Kingdom due devolution, there is something very insidious at the heart of English politics. Quickly coming to a complete break up.They haven’t a clue. Try to appeal to everyone and appeal to no one. When they lose the next election they will need a proper assessment as to why they have lost to the worst government in living memory.
That is very true.Still more people positive than negative but see what you mean.
If Labour want to run on a platform of not supporting union action, that’s fair enough. The problem is it’s becoming harder to see what they do actually stand for instead of trying to please everyone and being scared of doing anything wrong.
We’re always just 2 steps behind the states. This time we have a choice between an utter buffoon and someone who all he appears to have going for him is that he’s not the utter Buffoon and that’s what Labour are going toCertainly in England it applies less to other parts of the Kingdom due devolution, there is something very insidious at the heart of English politics. Yeah, Starmer is having a shocker here. He can easily avoid endorsing the strikes but still stay onside.Starmer surely has to go as leader. How can the leader of ‘kin LABOUR be against strike action from unions? Especially when this is days after the Tories have said they’re going to remove pay caps on banking bosses in London
Absolutely shocking this
Laughable policy from Starmer trying to appeal to right wingers and brexiteers.
If Labour doesn't support workers what is the point in voting for them?
From what I gather Unite aren't enthused by partizan party politics under their current leadership, so the connection may be being eroded in both directions.Starmer surely has to go as leader. How is he doing that?
How is he doing that?
According to various news outlets he has told front bench MPs to avoid picket lines?
The leader of the party founded by Trade Unions is now telling MP's not to join rail workers on the picket lines.
See, I am not that political, as in, have never been a member of any party. Nor am I wedded to only ever voting for the same party regardless.
A floater I believe the phrase is. But I see chaos and a pita for millions of folk, many, presumably, "workers", and again, to my eye, the strikers are not exactly poorly paid. I have no clue about their T&Cs mind. Maybe they are terrible.
I am fully aware of the origins, (and reasons why) of the Labour Party, and most likely would have joined it back then. But days have changed, and the "must support any strike and visit picket lines" mantra, to me, is just outdated twaddle that resonates with a tiny number of the electorate. Maybe I am wrong.
For the record, I spent the last 2 years as a carer, (£10 a day), and the previous 6 or 7 as a delivery driver. A worker.
The strike has reasonable grounds for being carried out. Covid causing short term issues in the rail industry should not allow these companies to massively reduce workers rights.
