To take each point Pete.
People did know about Johnson, but they had assumed he had grown up, as he said he would in this role. They voted for a deal, which while not perfect was "oven ready" and a compromise that allowed us all to move on. They now seem to want to re open this chapter. Cant they see, we are all sick of it?
As for Starmer, he has done the right thing. It's what people in leadership do. They take accountability for their actions. I don't like the guy, but he cant be knocked for that.
As for Johnson beating him in PMQs I mean that is subjective. I think they are both poor. Starmer is like a lawyer, and Johnson comes across as Henleys 2nd best Winston Churchill tribute act. However, objectively at least, the polling is very much in Starmers favour. His net favourability ratings are much higher (or less low) and his party are way ahead in the polls.
A recent poll of 88 Tory seats showed Labour winning 85 of them. Johnson could be losing a seat he would have to retain to win an election, and a 2nd which is his 60th safest. It's a snapshot, and it could change, but after the local elections, it's hard to say anything other than Johnson looks set for an electoral annihilation as things stand, and the polls are very bad for him.
