Wine up the walls, puddles of puke everywhere…flippantly trying to maximise it I think……

Wasnt that what happened at these parties? Am I mistaken in that?

I mean, it's not essential. I'm still not sure why I wasnt allowed to go to a funeral, but the PM was able to break the law? Why was that? I'm intrigued as to why you seem to think that's acceptable.

During the lockdown, government still had to function especially in no10. They were legally allowed to form a rather large bubble in order for the country to function. The pressure must have been intense, no ’working from home’, and every now and again they relieved the pressure. Every company board in the country did similar and I’ve no doubt that many people on here did so as well, while keeping within a bubble. I’ve no doubt that they took it too far and have rightly been fined as a result, just as many other people were. I gave barrels of beer and lager away rather than pour them down the drain and they were no doubt drank in their own little bubbles as well. A funeral was different as it would bring together people from around the country and not in a single bubble, and I could accept that…..

Pete they werent legally allowed to do what they did.

They broke the law.

I worked throughout, under high pressure. I didn't break the law.

I dont understand why you think it is ok for them to break the law, and for me, not to attend a funeral.

You dont need to tell me about stressful you think their job is, or how mine isnt, I'm just interested in why they could break the law, but I wasnt allowed to go to a funeral.

That sounds like "oh loads of people were doing it so it was ok really ". Loads of people were following the rules, miserable though it was.
I suppose we were all mugs.

Boris was fined once. Starmer, being the naive fool that he is, thought it would be a clever political wheeze to offer to resign, then when Rayner was finally admitted to being in attendance she had to do similar, which I guarantee she would not have done otherwise. There is no ‘good’ ending for Starmer, the left want him out and this is a great opportunity for them ‘hoist on his own petard’. Even if not fined, the Tories won’t now let it go and he will be smeared. Everyone expects Boris to have a drink, but Mr Pious will be tarnished irrevocably……

Boris might have been fined once, but we both know there was definitely more than one party he attended, the one the Met decided not to charge him with..or more ominously were told not to charge him with.

Please note how none of the above ended up in the official account of what happened, largely because they made a conscious decision to include "things that had actually happened" rather than other demonstrably untrue things like company board in the country did similar.

Ah come on, vote for them all you like, but there was clearly a culture of rule breaking going on, that the PM was more than privy to.
I remember, at the same time, freaking out about having a couple of mates over for a sesh and asked the neighbours if they were ok with it.

I would love reporters and interviewers to do their jobs, the next time I see some cretin interviewed and stating that Boris is doing a good job please ask them to explain what good job he is doing. The next time a politician is interviewed and spouts lies challenge him or her. If they refuse to answer the questions they are asked stop the interview. Fiona Bruce was an absolute disgrace on this weeks Question Time, if you aren't up to the job then move on and let someone capable do it.

They haven’t a clue. Try to appeal to everyone and appeal to no one. When they lose the next election they will need a proper assessment as to why they have lost to the worst government in living memory.
There's not really much evidence that the public support unions though

Still more people positive than negative but see what you mean.
If Labour want to run on a platform of not supporting union action, that’s fair enough. The problem is it’s becoming harder to see what they do actually stand for instead of trying to please everyone and being scared of doing anything wrong.
