Current Affairs The Labour Party

So to summarise, Labour are currently ignoring all the warning signs now. You can see the writing on the wall. What with Tories having their worst leader in history, someone so bad that May gets lauded with recent speeches from the backbenches.

Because lets make this abundantly clear now, Starmer will not win in 2024.

Lots said about Corbyn, even if his era proved a dead end it did however, do one very important thing; it renergised the party and refloated it financially.

If Corbyn hadn’t been elected leader, with the vast membership push that followed it, I honestly doubt the Labour Party would have had the money to fight the 2017 election effectively, and they certainly wouldn’t have had enough to fight the 2019 one so soon afterwards.

Doubt Starmer could convince his family members join Labour, that leaves sponsorship from business...

Not in the opinion of a lot, and i mean a lot of ordinary people in this country. In fact he was very well liked by a lot.

…personally, I never thought it possible for Labour to win in 2024. I always thought it would take a very long time to recover from Corbyn. Starmer was all about re-establishing the Party for whoever followed.

Brexit was far more damaging to Labour than corbyn. Many turned on corbyn cos he promised a second referendum.

Can you point me to where he did?

All I can see is that he picketed with McDonald's workers for a £15 wage, not a minimum wage.
He stated, when interviewed that he was supporting McDonald’s staff when they were asking for “the basics” which was a £15 an hour wage. If he is now saying he supports one group of workers in getting the basics then if he does not support a £15 minimum wage for everyone we have a Labour Party leader who supports employers paying below the basic level.
That is not acceptable.

Right, so he didn't support a £15 minimum wage then?

See, there's a difference between McDonald's - a multinational corporation - paying £15p/h, and the café on the corner.

Everyone loves a fool... Which he increasingly looks by every passing minute.

And as soon as Starmer and co recognise that centrism is dead to the better...

Unsure what to do with my membership. Stay in so I can vote against this fraudster next time or leave a send £5 a month to something a little less Peter Mandelson?

I left the day after he got made leader and have not regretted the decision at any point.

He offers very little and there is absolutely no chance he'll get elected.

Been churning over leaving and donating to Welsh Labour directly think I'll do that now, although there is also a manifesto to come do allow my membership to continue, no denying if we are getting New Labour type policies then the poor, sick, disabled and single parents will be better taken care of just as they were in 1997 to 2010....

Wrong he did support the minimum wage, when he stated £15 per was the basic.
When you advocate that a multinational company should be subject to one basic wage and a local employer a lesser wage you the don’t have a minimum wage. You have a minimum wage or you don’t.
He stopped supporting a £15 minimum wage when some pollster told him it would be open to attack from the Tory party. As was said about the current Labour Party “We have principles but those principles can change”.

Exactly, which is why a £15 an hour minimum wage makes no sense. You put small businesses under, fewer jobs, higher prices etc.

He didn't support a £15 minimum wage, he said it was 'basic' for McDonald's workers. He's right; McDonald's should pay more. If he supported £15 an hour flat as a minimum, he would be open to attack, because it'd be stupid.
