The "In Defence of Allardyce Thread "

First 6 games - 3 wins 3 draws 0 losses scored 7 conceded 2.
Next 5 games 1 draw 4 losses (1 a cup game) scored 3 conceded 11.

Unsworths 6 'proper' games in charge (not counting a comp we where already almost out of in the EL)

Played 6, won 2, drew 1, lost 3 (1 a cup game) scored 11 conceded 12

Look at those stats, and think about what the age old adage is about teams that get relegated ('they don't score enough goals')

we are currently scoring less than a goal a game under Allardyce, that figure over the last 6 games is actually 1 goal every 2 games. over his tenure, we have conceded an average of about 1.2 goals per game, over the last 5 games that figure is over 2 goals a game.

Next up is a Leicester who haven't conceded in the last 3 and have Vardy in great form, after that we get to go away to Arsenal and say hello to Aubamayang.

so pretty sure those point returns, goals scored and conceded figures are gonna look a hell of a lot worse in a couple of weeks.
The other factor in all of this is that its very tight in the league this season from bottom to 10th there is a six point spread. It would be no surprise if we didn't have an above average points total for the 3rd relegation team, could be 40 points plus.

I thought we panicked sacking Unsworth and nothing I have seen so far has made me change my mind. The harder of two things to do in football is to get a team scoring goals, the easier of the two is to get a team to stop conceding them. Koeman and Allardyce have averaged around 1 goal a game in the league which is why we got into this problem in the first place, because once a team knows it can't score it's confidence takes a big knock when they start conceding. Unsworth managed to get us scoring 2 goals a game, yes we were still conceding too many but I think he started to get the balance right against West Ham. We certainly looked like winning our home league games under him.

The other thing that Allardyce has got going for him is the days he has to work with the squad in between games. He had 8 days after the Liverpool game, a week after the Spurs game, then he'll have 10 days before the Leicester game. He's then pretty much got a full week in between every game. If the additional time he has got to work with the players isn't reflected on the pitch within the next few weeks then it really does spell trouble. However if you look at the remaining fixtures we should be winning 4 home games against Crystal Palace, Brighton, Newcastle and Southampton. I think we'll stay up but i've got little or no confidence in Allardyce.

He has a similar record to unsworth, slightly worse actually

Yeah apart from under allerdyce we played liverpool away twice, spurs away, united at home and under unsworth we played relagation candidates and got gangbang by them week in and week out.

I want allerdyce gone at the end of the season but anyone who thinks unsworth would of done better then allerdyce needs to change sport.

Unsworths 2 big wins came from watford having to bring on what i can only assume was a lad off the street and put him in goal and west ham that allerdyce had more to do with then him.

TBF I think we won that Watford game because they had a very poor manager who they have sinced binned off before he got them relegated, just like he did to Hull!

You including that west ham match in there by any chance? The one that had allerdyces finger prints all over it? Embarrassing if your using that to justify your point

If it had fat Sam's finger prints all over it after zero minutes with the players why hasnt he got us hammering Liverpool and spurs then after 4 months with them?!

In what way did Allardyce have more to do with the West Ham win by sitting in the stands? This is nonsensical.

It didn't have allerdyces finger prints all over it at all, it didn't even have Allardyce's finger prints all over it!
If by some chance it did why oh why, having won 4-0, has he not continued to play in a similar way since! Instead he has resorted to playing the same dire way he has resorted to for the past fifteen years in an attempt to justify the relegation battle he needs us to be in! Him, his mindset, and his way of thinking and playing, is actually dragging us back into what could end up being a relegation battle!
