This is the wrong thread, but you know full well that we are not allowed to sign any trade deal until we fully leave the EU. The deals you mentioned may well have been signed during the period since the Brexit vote, but the negotiations had been going on for years before. Davis is not responsible for new trade deals, he is responsible for our EU negotiations. We are not allowed, by EU law, to negotiate and sign trade deals while we remain in the EU...

So why did Davis so that we'd have lots of trade deals signed up well before we officially leave? Surely our chief EU negotiator knows the EU laws as well as you do?

And we will. While they cannot be officially negotiated and signed, they can be unofficially discussed (in detail), then finalised and signed just after we leave. Personally I would not say a single public word about them, as it would give the EU and the HoL yet another opportunity to screw us up......

Ah, so you think we've got a whole bunch of deals agreed and ready to announce the day after we leave?

Except tariffs. That we don’t pay now. Don’t mention those. Be a happy little Brexiter and pretend they won’t exist.

Don't obfuscate. The point was 'closnig our doors', not tariffs.

Good try. Close, but no cigar...

As in the rest of the UK however, the most international part of Wales - Cardiff, voted to remain. It was the provinces of Wales, as it was the Provinces of England, that voted to leave.

Still wanting to divide and rule eh, Bruce? Setting the provinces against the big cities...?

Or just upset that all the selfish 'big city' boys got trumped by the majority... More this, I think.

Are you deliberately being obtuse. The government is trying to negotiate tariff free arrangements with the EU. If however this cannot be achieved, then tariffs will be applied by both the U.K. and the EU. The EU sells far more to the U.K. than vice versa, the U.K. will therefore receive a net contribution to our economy from the EU, besides not having to pay a yearly membership fee...

Why makes you think Cardiff is ‘international’.....

Ah. That’s very idealistic though isn’t it? Tariffs get applied and trade levels stay the same. Except that won’t exactly happen will it? We’ll be paying more for stuff we want and need (as noted by the BBC yesterday- we get about a third of our food from the EU) and exports could possibly drop.

Why exactly would the EU give us tariff free trade? It’s a bit like asking for a divorce and asking your missus to keep making your bacon butty of a morning.

I'll tell you what. Have a look at the industrial strategy outlined by the government. Clusters such as life sciences and artificial intelligence are generally focused around world class universities, which are all located in cities. I know you don't like that fact and think we can thrive by returning to an agrarian society, but it's not really in keeping with reality.

Why makes you think Cardiff is ‘international’.....

"Cardiff has an ethnically diverse population due to its past trading connections, post-war immigration and the large numbers of foreign students who attend university in the city."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demography_of_Cardiff#Nationality

Granted, it's not London levels, but it is by far the most diverse area in Wales and followed the trend of most of the UK, of areas with most diversity voting remain, and those with least diversity voting leave.

So you don’t get how pulling out, which would see tariffs incurred, isn’t us closing a door. Rightt.

Don't change the subject. Do you really think I would be fooled by your side-tracking of what I replied to originally...?

The point in question was 'closing our doors'. Now you want to talk about tariffs. Stick to the point.

There is more to life than those two things, Bruce, and well you know it.

At every turn you throw up the 'agrarian' argument. See ya next April, matey!
