The Guardian pretty much nails it in one...

Brent has spent £60 million in his 1st year without selling anyone big. I wouldn't be surprised if he spends £50 million odd in the summer considering they need 3 new cb's

Moyes has spent £20 million in the last year, with £13 million from rodwell, and £4 million from yobo/cahill. I'd imagine he or new manager would have around £30 million this summer from various deals.

Name a team that has qualified for it (apart from Everton) without major money?
Surely there will be one team you can name?

Turmoil? Apart from the RS every team you've mentioned finished above us last year, and all invested heavily in their squads over the summer and winter transfer windows.

You seem to forget we play against opponents. What if they are as motivated as we are?

Ah right, all we had to do is play brilliantly every game and we'd have got 70+ points, qualified for the CL and won the cup and derby. Why doesn't Moyes just get them to do it then?

And more to the point why does no other manager get their team to do it?

Your point would make sense if other clubs were doing it and Moyes' team weren't but there aren't ANY others that do. It is now 7 years of finishing in the top 8 (and 8th is the lowest we've finished) and in that time only Newcastle, once, have finished above us on similar money. Every other time it has been clubs who have spent vast sums of money to do so.

I was gonna reply in length .... then I thought QPR!!

There really is more to success than just money if you think there's no more to be had from this squad and Moyes is getting the maximum week in week out - no more to be said.

large fries please
