Getting tasty in here.

I believe in free labour markets. Any worker certainly has the right to threaten and go through with withholding their labour. That's as it should be. But, tit for that, any employer should also have the right to dismiss a worker or withhold pay for non-work. You can't have it both ways.

Couldn't you move? Get a job closer to home? Work from home?

On a serious note, 4 hours...Where do you live?
I’m in South Cheshire, it’s 40 minutes by train. Why should people move to a different town just on the fear of strikes? Again, doesn’t affect me, but I remember people being up in arms about how rural communities were being devastated and how it was so wrong, but it now seems that it's okay (not putting words into your mouth here) to deny commuters in these towns the right to actually get to work on a given day.

Not every job gives the option of working from home, not everyone wants to (or can afford) to live in city centres.

Again, I'm just totally confused by some of the arguments in here that guaranteeing a very, very basic service to people (which by and large already happens - see the current SWR strikes) which allows people not part of the action to go out about their daily lives as best as possible, is a problem.

I'm not suggesting you do. As per my earlier message i was 'playing Devil's Advocate'.

Boris Johnson got 300,000 more votes than Theresa May got in 2017 in what was considered a campaign disaster.

And now has a majority of 80...

Every election has these weird anomolies. The SNP have all but a handful of Scottish seats but with 45% of the electorate. (Interestingly, thats roughly the same split in their referendum result a few years back)

And?

Tony Blair won a 167 majority with 10.74m votes in 2001 and a 64 majority with 9.55m votes in 2005.

turnout, turnout, turnout.

that’s because Corbyn got 2,500,000 less votes......
Yep. Oddly if you look at Labours vote, it seemed to be Remain voters that abandoned it rather than picking up leave voters.

Increase in Lib Dem votes and SNP votes for instance.

Oh a side note you said 340 and I was dubious about that figure - I expected a hung parliament. You called it right.

It was a point about the UK electoral result not necessarily giving the full picture of popularity across the country.

A point you've also elaborated on with your additional analysis.

Hope that helps.
