To play devil's advocate here. Why don't the commuters just commute differently if they don't like the service?
A lot them do.
Cycling. walking.
Working from home is a thing too, I hear.

I’m in South Cheshire, it’s 40 minutes by train. Why should people move to a different town just on the fear of strikes? Again, doesn’t affect me, but I remember people being up in arms about how rural communities were being devastated and how it was so wrong, but it now seems that it's okay (not putting words into your mouth here) to deny commuters in these towns the right to actually get to work on a given day.Couldn't you move? Get a job closer to home? Work from home?
On a serious note, 4 hours...Where do you live?
Same reason people are moving away because of the lack of affordable housing, me myself and I...Why should people move to a different town just on the fear of strikes?
Although how far East in Europe you travelled from appears to be an issue whatever the skin tone. Many people seem to think so.
He'd rather die in a ditch tan do that. It's completely for show. He can just reverse it if he needs to.
I'm not suggesting you do. As per my earlier message i was 'playing Devil's Advocate'.I’m in South Cheshire, it’s 40 minutes by train. Not every job gives the option of working from home, not everyone wants to (or can afford) to live in city centres.
Again, I'm just totally confused by some of the arguments in here that guaranteeing a very, very basic service to people (which by and large already happens - see the current SWR strikes) which allows people not part of the action to go out about their daily lives as best as possible, is a problem.
Boris Johnson got 300,000 more votes than Theresa May got in 2017 in what was considered a campaign disaster.

Yep. Oddly if you look at Labours vote, it seemed to be Remain voters that abandoned it rather than picking up leave voters.that’s because Corbyn got 2,500,000 less votes......
It was a point about the UK electoral result not necessarily giving the full picture of popularity across the country. And?
Tony Blair won a 167 majority with 10.74m votes in 2001 and a 64 majority with 9.55m votes in 2005.
