We already have immigration controls. A points based system. Problem?

We have immigration controls on the RoW, we have none upon any villains or lowlifes from the Eu. The drug epidemic and knifings in London and beyond are because of imported criminal gangs. We can ignore it, dismiss it, denounce it, but that’s what’s happening. Either we manage those that wish to come here or we open the doors. Personally, I will never be affected, but I happen to believe that we should keep criminals out while allowing anyone, from whatever country, who can contribute to enter.....

This crisis wasn’t just down to Corbyn. He was in a very difficult position of trying to keep leave voters on his side whilst maintaining support of his remain MPs.
Think he shot himself in the foot more than a few times like. Above all, he was hoping that left wing domestic policies would take precedent over Brexit and he was wrong. Catastrophically so.
The tories were able to get in with just repeating the same line.
I have no regrets voting for Corbyn mind

Ultimately we were the ones who elected him to be our leader and those 35 MPs who in 2015 took leave of their senses and nominated him must also share the blame.

However, seeking to blame the electorate as the die-hard Corbynistas have done is ignorant to the extreme.

I dunno, when you have somewhere like Blyth, that has been brutalised by council cuts, benefit cuts and the disastrous implementation of UC, by a Tory government, then you do begin to wonder like.
The blame has been successfully shifted from politicians and the upper class to foreigners. Many people may take offence to that but that’s what I see and hear from people.

Where are you getting that from? Have you just made it up?

It seems pretty obvious that the knife incidents in London are pretty much all kid on kid/petty wannabe gang rivalries. Don’t know where imported criminal gangs fit in.

And living down here, I can tell you that the scale of it is of course grossly exaggerated. ‘Epidemic’ is a ridiculous word to describe it.

Epidemic is exactly the right word. How many kids have died from stabbings in London in 2019, how many have been stabbed and lived. Your defence of gross exaggeration or ridiculous, just shows how you have gotten used to this. You no longer even react to the death of a young man....

I’m not sure I did. I have put forward many reasons for leaving but I’m not sure that it was that I don’t like Germans, whose people I do actually like.....

I recall you saying the Germans were a nation given to wanting to control things and then cited WW1, WW2 and the EU as examples.

I found the conversation back in my profile from the EU thread.

One stabbing is too many of course.

But how would you define epidemic?

People often talk as if it’s dangerous to leave the front door and there are thugs with knives on every street corner.

Myself and nobody I know down here, along with most Londoners I presume, have no direct experience of knife crime or know of anybody that does.

It’s not something that the vast majority of people will ever be affected by.

I don’t think it can be described as an epidemic in all seriousness.

Just a bit confused by your comment 'the scale of it is of course grossly exaggerated'. Are you saying that some of the knife incidents reported didn't happen?

No. I’m saying the analysis and commentary on it is hyperbolic. A lot of it from the right-leaning press directed at the Mayor.

The Mayor happens to be brown and Muslim, incidentally.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I blame Germany completely for WW1 and WW2 and for being the driving force in the EU. But on a personal basis, I happen to like the Germans, they are more similar to ourselves than most Europeans, they just take themselves too seriously......

His colour or religion has absolutely nothing to do with the increased death count by stabbings. His incompetence however is driving it upwards. However your ambivalence to the death rate and stabbings count is somewhat shocking tbh.....

this is how all epidemics begin, step one, ignore what’s happening......

Yep, no British drug dealers or knife gangs, all imported. You're on Daily Mail overload today. lol

I’d be genuinely interested to hear how you think his incompetence is to blame here.

What specific incompetence, and in what area, do you believe is the cause of the rate of knife crime? What did the Mayor do that he shouldn’t of? Or what didn’t he do that he should have?

When the worst civil disorder ever seen in this country occurred in the riots in London several years back, I honestly don’t recall many people laying the blame at the door of the then, white, Mayor

Did you?
