The sooner this country realises immigration isn’t to blame for the countries ills, but the elite, the better. I imagine we’ll get a Tory majority of hell for this election though which may make people realise. Unfortunately then it will be too late and the Tories will have destroyed most of the younger generation’s futures already

We are finally close to the Bucks Fizz classic 'making your mind up' time...
How do we feel it will eventually pan out?
I think it will be a lot closer than a lot of people think. I'm going for a Tory majority
of +8 to 12 seats. Not sure if that will be a true working majority so it could be back
to the future...

Sadly, I don't think people care anymore.

If anything, it'll endear him to a certain voter base. That's how broken we are.
Nobody cares...... Get Brexit done.

Or something like that. He's pretty much at the Trump point now where people with their own agenda (like America, with racist undertones) will accept or ignore anything he says or does because 'they think' he is giving them what they want

C'mon lads...yous don't seriously believe BJ is actually writing "stupid because he was a coon" without any kind of context?

In his book, the coon in question is a character called Dean. According to a NY Times review, Dean is "the most sympathetic character in the book". So when there's a passage like:

"Dean shrank before him, and the ambiguities in his status seemed to fade away. There it was, en clair, decoded. He was a coon, and he was stupid, and he was stupid because he was a coon. "

It's clearly implying the world of this book is a racist one, which Dean tried to hide with ambiguity, but once that wore off, he was confronted with racism and its victim's inherent feelings of self-doubt. The character of Dean is a terrorist from the Midlands, albeit drawn sympathetically. I expect the author's intentions are to show what can happen to a put-upon minority.

If anything, it seems quite a liberal work. Upon release in 2004, it didn't cause controversy as obviously people read it as intended.

Of course because someone who says "Watermelon smiles" "letterboxes" and "bank robbers" is definitely not racist, or maybe they were within context, or maybe he was quoting someone else, or maybe he didnt say it at all.

He is a known liar, racist, homophobic individual with complete disregard and disdain for the 'lower class'.

Its distraction though. Make people focus on immigration and benefits claimants whilst enabling tax avoidance and tax evasion on a mass scale.

Seriously Tin, it's nonsense hysteria like this that gets things like Brexit and Tories the wins.

No its overt racism and the anti immigrant agenda that gets things like brexit.

This is what @BlueToff was referring to. All this extreme namecalling is putting off ostensibly-Labour voters to even get out there and vote.

In the end, all you're doing is welcoming the very thing you think you are fighting against.
