My wife has worked in the NHS for around 15 years, so I get a daily dose of grumbling about it. Some of that may be solved by more money, but there's an awful lot that is simply due to it being badly run. I've also consulted with the NHS a few times, and it's insanely frustrating.

My missus is a director in local government, she says the same, it's not all about throwing more money at it, it's about how it's being run from the top down. I could go into it a lot more, but she won't let me!

And to be fair, we can't be absolved from blame either, especially as so much of expenditure is on chronic conditions that we've caused ourselves by poor lifestyle choices. It saddens me that given how much people say they care for the NHS, they don't care enough to moderate their lifestyles so they don't cause such a drain on it.

Deffo Bruce, we all need to do our bit.

Lovely to see you Monty. How have you been?
The best I've in a while, thanks to Walton hospital my friend but alas the wife is still battling away with her cancers, nothing has cured them but she is only marginally worse. We've become grandparents which has been a huge stimulent. Trust all is well with you and yours

Totally agree! Not only this but many of those people who say they care so much about the NHS aren't bothering to turn up for appointments when they are booked in for them! Was talking to the Practise Nurse at our local GP's recently - 800,000 appointments with Practise Nurses nationwide were missed last year - 800,000 at what cost! I've had serious knee trouble for over two years now, there's a sign up in the Physio department at the hospital about the missed appointments over the last week, month and three months - the three month figure is over 2500, replicate that across physio departments across the country and god knows what the number is, then replicate it across other hospital departments at every hospital and it becomes a ridiculous figure - at what cost!
Simple fact is it doesn't matter how much money is being thrown at the NHS by whatever party, huge huge amounts of it are being wasted every single day, and a lot of it by people who claim to care so much about the NHS!

Amazing anyone could vote for this shower, literally the worst of the worst of a bad bunch
Amazing, is it really? I was talking to a couple of Brits recently, election was mentioned. She said "Oh we'll be voting for Boris - he has charisma". Speechless, I walked away.
Further to this. I was talking with some French people this weekend; again elections were brought up. One fellow said (a polite translation) - "the English electorate are bad, they are poorly educated and politically illiterate".
A sweeping statement but true for large swathes of the general population.

“Two of Britain's biggest power companies have shifted the ownership of their businesses offshore to protect against the threat of nationalisation by a Labour government.
National Grid and SSE, who together own the country's gas and electricity transmission networks, said they had started overseas holding companies in the wake of Jeremy Corbyn's plans to bring them under state ownership.”

and so it begins.....

National Grid is owned by an Australian and Chinese Bank consortium, with the Chinese part 58% owned by the Chinese government.

So, I'm guessing they are held offshore already.

The Gas network was sold to the Kuwaiti government I believe so that's offshore too.

It's the same attitude people have to litter.

It's always someone else's job to deal with it.

I understand the purpose of this move is to ensure that the price for purchase of shares will be determined by the markets and not the U.K. government.....

Thats what I assumed as well. They, the companies, know the real problem isnt Corbyn, it will be his chancellor.
