You've hit the nail on the head mate. They come to get attention and cause trouble, so the question is how do we prevent this from happening again? We all want the same thing, to stop these primates from polluting our city. Counter protests clearly have no effect on them because they keep coming back after having their arses figuratively kicked, why do you think that is?
It's obviously not a long term strategy to win over people because those knuckledraggers wouldn't be able to spell their own name the same way twice, much less think out a logical long-term plan. They keep coming back because they get their buzz, "winning" isn't important to them just the event itself.
You know what would stop them in their tracks and ensure they'd never come back again? If they didn't get the reaction they crave. Simple as that, once it finally enters their incredibly think heads that nobody even cares about them and we won't entertain even arguing with them, they'll just stop bothering. One single time of them walking the empty streets with a massive sign over St Georges hall that read "nobody's arsed, just go home bellends!" Would ensure they'd be bored and not bother again. Its by no means as satisfying as a counter protest but it would be far more effective imo.

Clearly we both want the same thing. I'm not convinced ignoring them works, though - most of them are thugs who have a history of attacking people given the opportunity. Let them march and, at the very least, they walk through the city insulting our friends and families with their racist bile. At worst, they physically hurt people.
I'm not condoning everything that goes on during these 'counter protests'. I'd prefer it if people simply stood in the way and prevented the march. Throwing firecrackers and bottles (even plastic ones) is entirely unnecessary and puts genuinely peaceful protesters and the police at risk.
most of these EDL clowns are simple thugs who would be football hooligans in another life, if football and the police hadn't done such a good job of getting rid of violence at matches. These marches are just an opportunity to cause trouble. They get outnumbered in Liverpool so hide behind police to throw their insults. Hopefully they will get bored of that but I don't think they'll go away of their own accord.

Not sure how ott feminism is on the same level as a group who on mass go out of their way to racially abuse muslims leaving war torn countries, hate blacks, hate jews and promote white nationalism... somehow being upset by this (snowflakes lol) means you're just as embarrassing ? The Far right tried in on in the 1930s with Mosley and got a pasting. They tried it on in the late 1960s with Enoch Powell, supported by London Dockers and got taken to the cleaners. They tried it in the 1970s wit the NF and Combat 88 and again were run out of town, The morphed into the BNP and yet again they were hounded from the streets. The EDL are the latest far right group to take up the mantle and as shown in Liverpool they find it difficult to organise on the street. The far right have always used terror for political ends - Combat 88 were notorious for attacking march and pubs were meetings were held - it is just the opposition to them has been much stronger.
That doesn't mean that they will not just go away they wont, some of them are on a mission to 'cleanse' the country anyway they can.
