What on earth are you on about? So you are saying the top universities and colleges are being spoon fed by some mad left conspiracy.

To say universities don't teach ideas and broaden the minds of students to all forms of life is ridiculous and show how much of a tin foil wearing nut you are.

Maybe the students simply don't accept old school conservatism and don't want to be part of this new conservative lark that Trump and his backers are trying to convince us off. I bet some a lot of them don't agree with traditional liberal views either. Hence the Democratic party has become fractured just like the GOP.

Times are a changing my friend.

Maybe the students minds are being open to how much more there is out there.

You realise that most immigrants to this land would be liberal and progressive too. Be they educated or not. Why? because they expose themselves to more and don't get bogged down in traditional failing ideologies. Hence a lot of them left their homeland for greener pastures and to see what else they can achieve and what else they can learn and do.

Have you considered that its not some liberal thing but times are changing and kids have more progressive ideas and want to change how we approach things in general and how we treat people.

Universities are nothing but learning centers. There is no mad cult or liberal agenda there. You get to pick and choose what you want to study.

When a student learns a new science technique or how to build a robot to do a certain thing or learn a new way of cultivating land or whatever that is a progressive thing.

It's not because they wish to vote democrat and are being twisted to do so. It's because colleges are melting pots of ideas and all types of people from all walks of life.

So conservative raised people what do you think happens to them then at university?

US ideology i.e. the enlightenment didn't fail. It produced the most free most prosperous country in the world.

I read the Scientific American article, it is nothing new. I'm well aware of Michael Shermer's work, which is largely decent. But he is picking on a few studies out of literally tens of thousands of published studies. Certainly the researchers he quotes might have used better language, but I have yet to read those studies so I'll suspend judgment on them. But you are going on and on in typical Faux-News fashion about indoctrination factories, which amounts to claiming that college-aged individuals are empty-sponges who absorb everything they learn without thinking for themselves. This is simply not true. It is a right-wing caricature of higher education that is parroted and repeated so the Republicans can defund education because an educated populace (i.e., one that thinks for themselves) will quickly figure out that conservatism as it is practiced to day is a morally bankrupt, largely xenophobic, compassionless, selfish system designed to privilege the rich.

And frankly what I noted in jest above, is largely true: there are very few conservatives going into the humanities/social sciences, so there is no way to readjust the hiring practices so as to correct the imbalance. So tell your right-wing buddies to start getting PhDs in political science, sociology, anthropology, etc.

I was talking about ideology. In practice neither left or right wing politicians implement their ideology well and that's a problem caused largely by the need to amass votes.

What I am saying is right wing ideology mixed with something like a basic minimum wage could be the answer to solving the inequality problem and to allow the individual to take responsibility for their own lives and the societal benefit that creates.

A socialist system doesn't work.

There is a political bias in universities that tends toward the truth, inclusiveness, and diversity. And as I said there are very few right-wing PhDs in social sciences, so this bias will continue until conservatives decide they want to pursue a degree in this area.

But what is this fixation with communism? I suppose all the uni-professors are now commies, eh? Nice.

Exactly this. The right is scared that they are losing the young people. Them attacking the kids marching on gun rights shows this.

Even in red states urban areas and universities are mainly blue. Because young minds are more open to fresh ideas and concepts.

The first part of your post has some validity, but it ignores that (at least in America) we're funding the radical left spreading leftist messages. It's chicken-egg. I think young people are receptive to the ideology espoused, particularly when it requires so very little of them. But it makes little sense to ignore the incubators.

The second part is amusing because "blaming someone else for a lack of success" is a huge part of what drives the left in America, at least. Nobody wants to hire me with my Japanese feminist literature degree, and society is at fault for that, clearly. Sure, bitterness can drive people to the right or left. But more often, it's probably the protectionism that comes with having children, or the frustration that comes with making money to see 1/3 of it squandered by a profligate government.
