if evertons the broke engine how would you fix it? its easy to criticise something, lets hear how you would improve it without a magical pot of gold or a lottery win! again, without getting anything in return

You're missing my point. I fix engines for people who don't know how to fix engines. if they knew how to do my job, I wouldn't be needed.

In this metaphor, I (and the rest of the fans who give our custom to the club) is the person who doesn't know how to fix engines.

My point is if I turned to the people I work for and said "you're not happy with the job I'm doing, then do it yourself" they would say, "no, I pay you so I don't have to know anything about electronics. If you can't make it work, then I'll find someone who can."

The board own shares and get paid salaries because I and the other fans know nothing about business, It shouldn't be up to us to work out how to get the engine working. What we can do, however, is say that the engine isn't working and they've been trying to fix it for years and getting nowhere so maybe we should let another engineer have a look at it.

I'm not the person who I want to replace kenwright so why should I come up with the better idea. My idea is find someone who'll do a better job then the current board and hire them. And I think there must be someone, because currently the engine isn't working at all.

if you fixed my engine and i finished 7th in the best league in the world id be happy if thats all i could afford. im sure if i could afford a better engine i would but on that principle we would all drive bentleys! only 6 other teams will finish above us this season, which board would you prefer?

Your missing my point, they had the acumen and intelligence to get there, none of us did. why do you think you could do better? or more importantly who do you think could do better? surely if you could you would or if someone else thought they could they would? im pretty good at what i do but i could never presume i could translate that to the running of a football club, in all honesty i wish i could but i know i cant, im realistic in that respect. i therefore dont see how i can bitch and moan about someone who through their own hard work is able to?

like i said earlier, would you put all you had into our club without the need for any return? as alluded to on another thread, football clubs dont make any money! Utd, City, RM, Barca and the Milan clubs all lose fortunes, would you lose yours?

if i had it , yes ... but ive only got a few quid to my name , so i cant.
but even then , what difference would it make if i had the shares instead of bill. bill has invested £0 , so we would be a few quid better off with me than him ;) (better tbags for the lads)

would i make mistakes like and as often as bill ? i would hope not , but after a decade of treading water and going nowhere i would admit im crap and gladly step down and let someone else have a chance of doing better.

is there better people out there ? is the question.
well in the whole of english football im sure there isnt many chairman/boards with such a long list of balls ups before being forced out.(granted - pompey leeds etc show that it could be worse but these examples are few and far between)

lastly 'they had the intelligence to get there '.......... but when they got 'there' they clearly didnt have the intelligence to actually do the job that needed doing . hence why 10 years later we have to sell to buy by the look of things , rent our (very good) training facility - not own , mortgaged up to the hilt , spending money before we earn it (loans), and are no closer to solving our revenue and stadium issues than we where 10 years ago.

im not trying to convinve anyone btw. thats just how i see it and my opinion.

for the record im not being awkward just for the sake of it, i just dont see how its that easy to replace what we have, i for one would rather have someone who cares for the club than the owners of say, leeds, newcastle, portsmouth, southampton etc..

the list is endless when you look at teams who wished for something better, im happy with what we have, they want the best for the club in my opinion, as we do as fans. if it was that easy everyone would do it wouldnt they!

I've decided to learn french in the space where I would usually take part in these threads.

Mieux vaut tard que jamais.

tbh I just googled that.

I may take up the piccolo though.

agreed, just like every other football club though, mortgaged to the hilt! out ,mortgage is lower than some and higher than others, 7th doesnt look that bad at the moment does it.

dont get me wrong, id love a rich evertonian with money to burn and throw at the club but that isnt going to happen, if they were out there we would know about it, just like we heard all the bull **** when the rs were up for sale, nobody wants to pile cash into a club anymore, not if they cant leverage the debt against the club

see i do really agree with this .
but in the same way that a mother wants the best for her baby .... but in reality the baby isnt getting fed , is suffering from malnutrition and also living in a garden shed next door to a paedo.

below my level here im afraid, nut i do know a few geordies who said the same thing before there club was raped from within

It was in fact relatively easy..to have concluded the NTL deal in a reasonable time period as other clubs (Middlesborough ffs) did, to have borrowed or compromised with Gregg to seal the Kings Dock deal (£35M ffs), not to lie and present a sham to the AGM, not to have allowed predatory investors an interest in the club (you don't need to be mensa to weigh up Green and Earle), not to have wasted millions on a scheme blatantly contrary to planning law, and the other repeated cock ups one after another.

For the record, you can't defend that

well if i owned my own business as a result of my own business ability and financial standing I would struggle to comprehend how someone who hasn’t got that same acumen and ability could critique my running of said business, i guess the same goes for the running of a football club, so yes, that’s the point im making. Those who can, do, those who can’t moan about those who can!
your logic is flawed, the list of missed opprtunities, bad decisions, lies, spin and pure mismanagement proves that, in their own fields, they may be successful. at running a football club, they are as useless as a chocolate fireguard.

The whole NTL thing always struck me as a bit weird did Bill hold his hands up to that? Or is it a rumour that just grew legs.

In what way could it be a rumour, NTL were seeking to invest up to £30M for a 9.9% stake in the club. Other clubs, Rangers, Leicester, Middlesborough with fully functional boards took the money from NTL. We dallied and NTL went bust in the meantime.

When has Bill ever held his hands up to anything?

Unless they were going to hand over the £30m in lump sum cash there and then, I highly doubt we would have seen a penny of it anyway.

From the transcript of the 2004 EGM:

"We were close to doing a media deal with NTL when NTL went bust, out of business in that particular area of its activities. It was literally on the day that we were accepting a cheque for over £30m. Literally on the day. That was the very final major deal, not to be completed in this case, but after that there was no other major deal ."
