kenwrong invested only in purchasing the club and then like the other shareholders invested nothing into the future success of the club, so we have to rely upon the club itself to make its own money and when we allow players to screw us like gosling it really doesn't bowed well, we are not the worst out there but we are far from the best,( I aslo heard a rumour that someone has been paying himself as a scout a very well paid scout, how true that is and who it is I cannot say I don't know the reliability of the source)

He privately purchased shares. That is not investment into the club. If you're post suggests anything different it's as helpful as dog****.

"Bill Kenwright hasn't put a penny into Everton"

He spoke about people buying shares and others investing. But KENWRONG aint invested a penny...FACT!!!!

I was simply trying to contextualise the statement lease that little fact about buying out the previous owner is lost. Doesn't take away the fact that he hasn't dipped his hand into his own pocket since, but that's not exactly a mystic revelation of biblical proportion. Its a simple fact. He doesn't have the money. This is why we need investment or a takeover. Personally, I don't care which.

Don't worry lad's, I have been playing the Lotto and once I win, I'm going to buy EFC.

The future is bright.

Nordecke, what do you reckon £10,000 would get you - Drogba's football-boot laces.
:)

One lucky Evertonian has won a massive £10,000 in Everton's End of Season Superdraw!

William Davies from Dingle Brow was the lucky winner of the big cash prize after the draw was made at Goodison Park on Thursday afternoon.

I often hark back to the glory days of "survival Saturday" and constant relegation worries. Johnson, you beaut of a rs, come back we miss you. In all honesty, I'm now ducking out of these discussions after this post as it really is pointless. Post something when you internet hard men get off your backsides and storm the board room. Spitting in the wind, is, well, spitting in the wind. I'm sure the board are trembling at this moment at your continued diatribes.

They won't let me in! :(

Are you talking about David Conn and his annual look at Premier League finances? I just read through the article on the Guardian and looked at the data he's collected. Compared to some clubs, Everton are doing pretty well.

As to the question of owner funding, I would never require an owner to fund transfers and wage bills out of his own pocket (although I would love it if he did). The return on investment for that is almost nothing. Some of those ownership funds were just a symptom of relegation and promotion (i.e. funding the club for a year or two until you get the big Premier League payday). I would think, however, that providing funds to increase the permanent revenue of the club would be a great thing for both the owners, club, and supporters. Talking about stadium improvements and things like that.

And yet Kenwright sunk the Kings Dock project for the sake of finding £30M.

In the end, Everton must be self-sufficient. We pushed our wage bill a little higher this past year, hoping to make a run at Europe and the FA cup but it hasn't worked out. Continuing to do so would be a risk. Everton are more than capable of competing in the Premier League given our revenue but we need to reign it in a bit since we can't rely on BK to back us up financially.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to teams like ManCity and Chelsea when financial fair play starts. ManCity have already stated that they won't be spending as much this summer in preparation for that. Personally I think one or both may be removed from European competitions in 2014-2015. I believe that's when it kicks in.

It was pushed up because we bought no one. Great bit of thinking that - save on transfers and plough it into wages for a squad that finished 8th the previous season. Spot on.

As for City - forget about them, they're over the hills and far away. UEFA Financial Fairplay. Lol!

Plus the fact our wage bill will likely drop for the coming season if the likely transfers of Yobo, Yak, Vaughan etc go through. I just can't see us making 5 or 6 signings to replace them so expect the wage bill to drop in the coming season.

Not my understanding about the £30m in relation to the Kings Dock. My understanding is that the only person who could realistically find the £30m was Gregg. Unfortunately Kenwright was in the middle of a battle for control of Everton with Gregg at the time. Gregg would have been foolish to pledge £30m to a project when he was being pushed out at the same time. Its not one of Kenwrights finest hour and it lost us the Kings Dock.

we've not had one of these tedious, cyclical threads for a few days.

Is there any new information to precipitate this one. If not, maybe we can reread one of the old threads where we all stated our position explicitly for the umpteenth time - and instead do something more productive.*

*I'm off to put the tea on.

No mate, that struggle came after KD bit the dust and was no doubt the main cause of the friction.

He hasn't put a penny in because he hasn't got a penny to put in.

He spent every single penny getting the club out of the hands of Johnson.

Don't slate him for not being a billionaire like.

With this ownership and investment thing and also private dealings like kings dock it's hard to get the full picture and determine who's wrong or right, so any debate is heresy and probably not going anywhere anytime soon. boo agent johnson whatnot anyway.
