Great film, atmospheric and evocative of the pre-war Edwardian upper class. The book is well worth reading, L P Hartley one of my favourite authors.

Don't think he ever fulfilled his potential. He was excellent in the Liverpool based film Gumshoe, and the television adaption of the short stories of H.E. Bate's Uncle Silas.
