RIP Rocky Lockbridge, died yesterday, aged 60. Decent Yank boxer in his time, probably most well known in the ring for handing Roger Mayweather his first ever defeat via brutal 1st round KO in '84, to win the WBA Super Feather title.

But most will know him for two other things. Becoming a meme after crying on a TV show:

And gloriously knocking out some street bum with a trademark one-two:

"COLD.....COLD...…...….SLEEP!"

I don't know how I forgot his best film (senility probably), Saturday Night, Sunday Morning. Part of the 'new wave' of British cinema in the late 50s and early 60s. Features the new GOT motto : 'don't let the bastards grind you down'.

No overalls, ear muffs, H&S glasses etc there. As shown in the film a Different world.

John Haynes the creator of Haynes manuals, died last friday. If you’re not a regular in the oldies thread you may not know him.

Radio full of tributes as you can imagine.
Talking about THAT save. I watched it live at the time and to this day still marvel at it.
Banks missed the quarter final through food poisoning and Bonetti played and was blamed for a poor performance. The thing is that Westy should have been there but his missus said she didn't want him to go.
