The David Moyes Thread - All In Here!

How can the man be interested in an offer he hasn't gotten? If they haven't contacted him he has no idea what his salary would be, what his transfer budget would be, how much control he would have etc? We ALL have a price, but to say that all Spurs would have to say is "come on over lad" and he'd be gone doesn't ring true. He'd have to get a better deal than he's got here. At this point, he has no idea if he would, so what else is he supposed to say?

I just went through negotiations with a company that wanted me. I didn't really want the job for various reasons, but the money would have been good. It wasn't just about money though. I wanted to some guarantees around stability, resources at my disposal etc. So they asked me what I wanted and I told them and they said no. So I didn't leave. I like my job, but had they given me everything I wanted I probably would have left. This is real life. We all have conditions around which we would leave our jobs, but that doesn't mean we don't necessarily like our current situations.

That is the point I'm making, though. You're right, he cant force those men to back him - never has been able to. We all know finance is needed to fulfill ambitions...yet here is Moyes every so often telling us all he can get the job done. Well he cant. That to me is dishonest. He's not on the level when he makes those statements and if you factor in he's getting a huge wedge for staying at Everton it doesn't take too much more to be cynical about his motives or his role at Everton protecting that boardroom.

I believe him, he's telling the board he wants more support. he could have signed a 5-year contract earning him 15 million guaranteed, instead, he's got a year left and we are unlikely to keep him. Nobody could ever accuse him of not being loyal.

It's disengenuous to declare what he declares for the very simple reason that he knows through experience this board wont back him. The best he can hope for is he's given the money he generates in sales - and that isn;t the recipe for success or fulfilling ambition.

If he's talking up ambition as an explanation for his imminent departure then fair enough. My money though is on a new contract for another three years with zero investment on the playing side.

Simply...No.

Instead he's said "speak to my chairman" then talked about ambition.

Slightly hollow if you haven't ruled yourself out of other possible job opportunitys. It's almost a managerial come and get me plea.

He's just in it for the money though, init mate?

Even me, being the blue I am am would bite their fukin hand off the minute they offered me a guaranteed 5-year 15 million pound contract

and that's regardless of whether I was planning on staying.

In it for the money, on the take

I honestly hope he does go to Spurs you know.

Most of you deserve the whirlwind that will come after Moyes.

And besides, my Season Ticket should be cheaper in The Championship.

I think that's slightly naive kenada...there's a huge gulf between open to someone offering you something you can't refuse and issuing a "come get me" plea.

I'm not sure why Moyes would want to rule himself out of other job opportunities. Even if he didn't want to leave Everton, he's in talks to extend his contract. Having a club like Tottenham interested helps his bargaining position. But let's be honest, he'd probably consider taking the Tottenham job if he was guaranteed a big contract and autonomy over football operations. They simply have more money available than Everton do and thus, a greater chance at success in the future.
