The correct pronunciation of pastie

Im sorry you are wrong- Pasties were created in Cornwall and a true fact- do you know what the crimping effect is on the side of a pasty?

It was because the cornish miners who had grubby hands could hold on to the crimping and eat the pasty and throw the crimp away. True.

So in that case and taking into account the people who invented them- the way to pronounce it is par-sty. True too.

Par-sty? Get those plums out of yer mouth Bath boy.

Its pass-tee you monster.

Withdraw scandalous insults sir, I will not amend the truth to fit your whimsy, the truth shall without. I would point out, as you appear incapable of acknowledging the obvious, this thread is about PASTIES, all varieties of the aforesaid delicacy. In what part of God's good earth do people confuse by shape, flavour or any other detail a hideous sausage roll for the king of confectionery the pastie. Withdraw yourself sir or insert the sausage roll in the orifice about your person where it belongs:P

*Inserts sausage roll up council gritter*

Just to let you know, they pronounce it 'Pah-ste' in Cornwall.

It's only those city types that think it should be paaarrrrsteeee.

Fact.

Ask a cornish miner.

I was in Saltash quite recently and the shop owner where i bought my foot long pasty( slight exaggeration ) from clearly pronounced it as past - tee !
