I accept your comments with the usual good humour I try to bring to our conversations. The groupthink comment however struck a chord however….
A lot of my comments are humorous, or at least I think they are

From the article, but it can be interpreted in several ways... I.e I argue one thing and everybody else says the complete opposite, then others join, see which way the wind is blowing, then do similar and you end up with groupthink. There are few on here, Bruce being one (apart from Brexit of course) who actually stand back and take an independent view, but of course that’s from my viewpoint ……

Think it's just people's views really nothing personal, it's a Labour stronghold area, it's like if I started congratulating liverpool fc on here for doing the double, I'm sure I'd find most against my view on sbot that on here.![]()
The other day you posted how getting rid of Mrs Thatcher was the worst days work ever or similar. There’s a great article on our front page about the spirit of the blues, it’s almost a football comparison with some of the debates in here.
I particularly liked this bit “Often taking a balanced view is unacceptable to those who have an entrenched position and will only focus on their sole perspective. There is no room for nuance or space to allow ambiguity or intelligent interpretations to breathe. I call this the Everton Overton Window, a name given to the political tactic of narrowing the ‘window of discourse’, controlling one side’s ‘acceptable’ views, attaching labels to reinforce certain perspectives. It’s group think, cognitive homogeneity, which deliberately undermines debate, restricts discussion, and presents a binary choice of ‘With Us’ or ‘Agin’ Us’. It polarises arguments too much and examines dynamics too little.”…….

I recall that one of her most famous quotes being “Those who are not with us are against us.” Yet here you are complaining that such an attitude “undermines debate, restricts discussion,”
You’re all over the place again. You love Boris because, according to you “he gets things done” yet you bemoan the quality of your opponents arguments as you claim they lack nuance, only focus on their sole interpretation with no space to allow “intelligent interpretation.”
There is much intelligent interpretation on here, it’s just that you don’t like or agree with it. You call it group think, because everyone agrees with it bar you and you complain about a lack of space for “intelligent interpretation” because you haven’t managed to convince anyone of your arguments. This must be frustrating but then again, maybe your interpretations are just not that intelligent given the evidence?
lol I suggest you read it again and try some of that “intelligent interpretation” of yours.lolThank you for proving what I said…..
No-one else believes that....From the article, but it can be interpreted in several ways... That and we're trafficking human beings to Rwanda.I thought it was a bit rich that Liz Truss was quoting the Geneva Convention in regard to the two soldiers sentenced to die when Britain are about to break an international agreement they made two years ago.
Following the trend of the Tory’s seeking to dismantle any institutions which are critical of them - BBC, C4 - we’re soon going to be in the unusual position of traditional conservatives trying to dismantle the monarchy in favour of a republic.
Just trying to keep himself relevant so he can continue the grift.that disgusting Tory toad Farage replied threatening the Monarchy with ending it, why cant the racist toad just stay out of our affairs and mind his own business.
