There’s a great article on our front page about the spirit of the blues, it’s almost a football comparison with some of the debates in here.

I particularly liked this bit “Often taking a balanced view is unacceptable to those who have an entrenched position and will only focus on their sole perspective. There is no room for nuance or space to allow ambiguity or intelligent interpretations to breathe. I call this the Everton Overton Window, a name given to the political tactic of narrowing the ‘window of discourse’, controlling one side’s ‘acceptable’ views, attaching labels to reinforce certain perspectives. It’s group think, cognitive homogeneity, which deliberately undermines debate, restricts discussion, and presents a binary choice of ‘With Us’ or ‘Agin’ Us’. It polarises arguments too much and examines dynamics too little.”…….

It's absolutley crazy, isn't it? I can't believe that supporters of a club from a poor part of a poor city that the Tories spent the 80s attempting to destroy and demonising would oppose them.

With respect Pete, What a load of old codswallop.

There’s no polarising of views or people being unwilling to debate, and there is none of this group think going on - we all can just see what the tories and Johnson are about and many of us happen to agree, which is completely the opposite of what you misguidedly think - there’s nothing wrong with that at all, and it’s disingenuous to say it’s going on.

I can give credit where its due and would happily do so for you’re mate Bongo and the Tory government if they did something that deserved any, but they clearly don’t and the evidence is slapping us all (even you) in the face on a daily basis, but you continue to stick you head up his anus.

They deserve the outcry, criticism and uproar for what they are doing, but you keep drawing a line and moving on mate - I and many others won’t allow that to happen.

Seen this come up in a number of threads now, where someone holds an opinion which gets challenged by more than one person, the counter is to call it Groupthink, rather than address the challenge. It also implies that everyone who holds the opposing opinion is susceptible to Groupthink, but not them.

It’s funny to me that there seems to be a number of people who employ this tactic, who as a collective, feel this is a ‘gotcha’ to being challenged.

Almost like a Group who Think this way.

I'm sure they would be most welcome :hayee:
It's a trap. They's passed the Police ,Sentencing and Courts Act which inhibits protests, giving power to the Home Secretary to stop any noisy protests in her opinion or ,I believe the recommendations from our boys in blue. Where better to try it out than in Liverpool.
