I seriously doubt you'll get any sensible response to any of these reasonable questions. These questions don't fit the narrative on here...

Several of the recent posts on this thread are saying that this is targeting refugees. It's not. The message was quite clear... genuine refugees, as it should be, are welcome. Illegal migrants are not welcome. I'm not sure if this Rwanda plan is the best or fairest solution. But, there does need to be some kind of effective deterrent against illegal entry. Currently, all that is needed, is to destroy/lose any kind of passport or ID, so they can't be returned to their country of origin. Perhaps being returned to a place that is worse than where they travelled from is an effective deterrent? To those who oppose this, what are the alternatives? There is no such thing as a nice deterrent.

Most people who enter illegally are seeking genuine refuge.

That’s the whole point of the asylum process for people from the Middle East.

They have no choice but to enter illegally.

Would you send all of these people away?

This is from the government website just over a year ago. Stop killing and torturing opponents. Allow a free press and stop intimidating journalists. Provide support to victims of trafficking. Sounds like a lovely place to send refugees. The government have made a lot today of the fact these talks have been going on for 9 months. So they started these talks about 6 months after making these recommendations. Rwanda must have moved pretty quickly!
